Renovating Design Dilemma Kitchens

Quartz work surface and splashback

Are there any design rules with using the same slab of quartz for both the worksurface and splashback? The kitchen will be off white wooden shaker with cabinets along one wall divided by a freestanding 90cm stainless steel cooker. There will also be an island running parallel..The floor tiles are a stone effect porcelain. Any advice welcome. Thanks.

You don't need both to be the same but in my opinion, it gives a more uniformed look.

You may consider upstands and a stainless steel splashback for behind the hob.

Alternatively, you could opt for tiles or a distressed mirror splashback along the full length of the back wall.

Asifa, thanks for your comments, appreciate the photos as it helps put things in prospective. I'm looking at getting a Quartz brand CQ Maderia which is busier than anything I've used before so just a bit scared I'll look at the finished product and think What have I done! On the other hand really tempted to risk it.

I agree with Emanuelle. I think wood brings warmth to schemes like this. I have also lived with wood worktops and love the fact they can be sanded and resealed. I have broken so many lovely places on my granite, but it does look nice too. I think your issue is with tone, not colour. The floor is tonally dark and almost everything else is light. As long as the worktop is in between tonally it should be down to your personal preference.

Hi Emma, We have installed the Cemento spa in several of our projects. Our clients like the suede as it does not need drying/buffing up once its been cleaned. My suggestion would be to borrow the small samples from your kitchen supplier (suede and polish) and use them as testers/coaster deliberate spillages etc - this will give you a better idea of usability and aid you in making the correct decision. Hi Daisy. Thanks for your feedback. This is meant to read that the surfaces are highly resistant to heat but that we do recommend using a trivet for very hot pans straight out the oven to prevent burning to the surface. Sorry for the confusion.
