Wooden or laminate worktops?
Comments (15)Thank you so much, all of you, for your very helpful advice. It's official - I'm going for wood! As well as all your comments, after I got home tonight I (sunflower) oiled all my wooden table and it looked fantastic, so warm & rich in colour. It was the first thing the hubby noticed when he walked through the door so that tells you something! And I thought that if I can just remember to do this every 6 monthly with the worktops then it really will look fabulous. And that's very interesting about what's happened to your laminate edges Chalkandbell, oh and the tip about wiping the edges dry after use. This advice is exactly what I was after - the kitchen companies will always say it's minimal upkeep but I really needed to hear from those who actually work with it every day. Thank you all. Comments (5)Hi. Here's a pic of how it would look (similar anyway!). It depends if you want the sink to stand out or for the worktop to look seamless. As you're going for a shaker have you consider a butler or Belfast sink?...See MoreLaminate worktops... white or wood?
Comments (10)Most worktop suppliers will provide customers with a free sample of worktop providing you don't ask for lots. You can get their information on their websites to request this. In our workshop we have samples of Axiom, Prima, Odyssey, Duropal, Egger and own brands. We are Staffordshire based. Out of all of the above Duropal and Egger are the most boring. There is nothing eye catching in any of their worktops. Prima and Axiom have added some new designs to their ranges but it all depends on whether you want to play safe or dare to be different....See MoreOak laminate worktops
Comments (5)Have a look at Worktop Express, they have laminate worktops at 4.1m in length, or if you don't see anything you like there you could google Egger, Bushboard, Formica, Duropal who are all worktop manufacturers. Would point out that I believe howdens units are at 575mm deep (add the door makes it about 595mm) and howdens worktops are mainly at 614mm, most worktops are supplied at 600mm deep unless its a breakfast bar so with a 600 deep worktop you lose most of the overhang to the door. Most kitchen cabinets are 560-570 deep to suit a 600mm worktop so you have a 10-20mm overhang to the door....See MoreOnePlan
