Amy, Many thanks for your interest. The timber is a species called Frake, and was treated with Osmo products that maintained the natural appearance yet minimise UV degradation.

Oh dear ! To face designing a whole house to work with orange wood that you don't like is a big no no in my opinion . Bite the Bullet and get a painter in ! Then you can have whatever look you want !! Or have a painting party !!! Either way - this orange wood will annoy you if you keep it !!!

Hello, To be honest I really like your hallway. Probably you are tired of the overall look but somehow those colours work very well together giving a traditional style to your space. Of course you can go for white and light colour but first you should define your favourite style you would like your hallway to feature, even create a moodboard and than make decisions! You could consider painting the skirting and doors in white but you could still leave the front door in the same colour as your staircase, that could be a solution too. Shame! It looks like you have some French doors in the room - can you bring it in through there? I think the nice thing about the Newman is the sharp clean lines and the metal legs, which prevent it feeling too heavy, so I would look for something similar. I'd steer clear of sofas with wide squashy arms. You could look at e.g. the Costello from sofa.com in a grey leather (I think you can have a wider range of fabrics than the ones shown online - ask in store). Rebecca

Wooden bathroom vanities - any advice or pros/cons water stains/marks?

Hi I really want a wooden bathroom vanity with two vessel sinks, like the ones here https://www.tikamoon.co.uk/cat-bathroom-washbasin-unit-329.htm But I'm worried about water and product stains; finger marks with cosmetic oils on them etc etc. Does anybody who has them have any anecdotal stories about them? Do they wear well? Or is it a bad idea in practice? I mean, they're available so people must buy them, but I can't find any stories from people who have them, saying if they love or regret. I know that I open drawers when I've got facecream on my fingers and worry that this will stain the wood. ?? What do you think? Thanks!
