Comments (4)If you put the main tv in the area with the French doors - could you see your son from the kitchen ? ( it looks like you could )... I've put together a very quick sketch of an idea to make the most of that beautiful fireplace nook - with a couple of fireside chairs - have either a round display table ( flowers /family photos etc) in the bay or add seating and use as an alternative dining / homework table ? With your 2.5 and 2.3m sofa in the French room end ... If you enable tv viewing /games etc in a tablet it could open up more opportunity too ?! Even if it's fixed in different places rather than hand held if that could be a problem ? [marketing note - this is an example of a sketch consultation service that OnePlan offer . Normal rates would be £35ph. But in this instance, we are happy to have helped this Houzzer FOC ]...See MorePOLL: What do you use your guest room for?
Comments (29)As no-one stays anymore, I swapped my lounge with my spare room (flat). I now have a lovely square lounge just for TV and chats etc. My spare bed is in my new 'craft room' just in case but it is covered with paper, clay, frames, paint and records. I paint and listen to old rock and metal that I can shout along to!!!...See MoreLiving Room, Dining Room Layout
Comments (12)A couple of options:- I'd put the games table in the study as for me personally it has no place in the lounge / dining area and should be out of the way in a separate room. With the games table out of the way, you have more room for seating in the lounge area & the conservatory, which can then be opened up for larger gatherings :-...See Moreliving room/dining room/office layout
Comments (10)I think your plan is good. I assume your home is a Victorian or 30s terrace as they do tend to be long and skinny, with a middle room that used to be used as a dining room in the old days. I think swopping the table to the end extension room and creating a cosy sitting room at the front of the house where the walls are red would flow better. Then you can have your office space in the middle. If the budget allows, I think knocking the wall between the kitchen and the office/dining area would widen out the room and make it less corridor like. Just a thought. I would also paint the walls throughout in one colour. Something brighter and cheerful such as an off white or pale green. The room will look bigger in a paler colour. I also think a rectangular table, if budget allows, can take up less room than a circular one and give better flow. Last weeks George Clark’s programme (C4) featured a very similar house to yours with the three rooms in a row, so may be worth catching up on to give you ideas. Here’s a few pics to inspire. 😊...See Moreh3dgehog
