Need help with above island extractor problem.
Comments (2)Ah, the joys of fitting extractors around beams etc! As suggested, I'd consider looking at alternative extractors (BEST/Elica/Luxair) to see if any might work better with your layout. Alternatively, dropping the ceiling above the entirety of the island could be made into an attractive feature. flat ducting may also help, but be aware there may be a reduction in efficiency of the unit. Hope you find a suitable solution! J Caldicot Kitchens...See MoreQuery on downdraft extractors/venting...
Comments (1)Downdraft extractors are not as efficient as those above as they extract the air below most saucepans. Have you thought about something ceiling mounted?...See MoreExtractor fans - Bora and Downdraft
Comments (4)Hi The Bora was the big purchase for me. I have the simple model. I have it on the island and have a vaulted ceiling above it which meant that a ceiling extractor would not work. I love the Bora, the fan extraction is very effective if a shade noisier than I had hoped but very much quieter than my old extraction hood. The house is free from cooking smells and there is less grease to be cleaned from tops of walI cabinets etc. It is simple to use and as the extractor fan is operated from the same set of buttons as the hob it goes on sooner and more often. I got the system that ducts outside (the piping is invisible, under the kitchen floor). The hob top extractor fan filter goes straight in the dishwasher - the whole hob is easy clean. It was installed by my own kitchen fitter with no problems. Beware the ducting pipes are extra and not cheap....See MoreExtractor Hood.... integrated ceiling or an island hood?
Comments (7)I don't have one in my island unit. I had one many years ago and didn't think it was effective. This afternoon I've been out to quote on kitchen worktops and they had a wide chimney island extractor over their 5 ring gas hob. To me it stood out like a sore thumb. I certainly couldn't get used to it (especially as a person who doesn't have or like them). I felt as though I would bash my head on it. Based on that I'd opt for something in the ceiling so it's not blocking any view....See Moreminipie
