How to swap new build LED downlights with a pendant light?
Comments (9)We removed 6 recessed spots from our breakfast room ceiling and replaced them with one central pendant light and it was the best thing ever! The lighting was always harsh even with trying all sorts of different bulbs and a dimmer but now it's transformed. We put off doing it for years as we thought it would be a major job and require re-plastering the ceiling but it was all done in less than 2 days. Our electrician did the wiring changes which didn't take him long and then the decorator patched the holes left by the recessed spots and used filler to blend them in. A coat of paint to the entire ceiling and you cannot see at all where the old lights were....See MorePendant lighting - do I really need 3
Comments (12)How about a compromise between the two options? Instead of 3 individual pendant lights which I think might look a bit cluttered being so close together you could have a single multi-light pendant. This would visually register as a single fixture but gives the light and look of multiple pendants? I've quickly scouted a few different style options at different price points but there's loads of similar ones to choose from. Comments (12)Hi Moggles i have a similar renovation starting and have the same thoughts re pendant lighting from steel. Are you actually allowed to have anything coming from the steel itself or won't this negate the fire proofing measures put in place ? So if you are allowed to hang directly from under the steel the next concern is the head height as looking at your photos it does look limited. I have actually bought 2 pendant fittings so i can decide when the time is right which is going to look best. One is a standard pendant with 3 lights dropping from it ... quite ordinary. The other is a long thin led bar that i thought could be hung with as much or little drop from the ceiling as required. It's quite similar to this but i think slimmer (it doesn't seem to be available now :/ ) http://www.litecraft.co.uk/quartz-rectangular-led-ceiling-pendant-chrome In fact it's really similar to the one shown by Modus above ! Will be following this thread with interest to see how you progress !...See MorePendant lighting shade choice dilemma
Comments (2)I don't think the layout would really allow that with it being a pretty compact living/dining area. The 2nd light could possibly be extended to sit over the dining area, but not without getting an electrician in and right now I just don't have the time/budget for it. The balcony table set there is a stand in for the dining table which will be this....See MoreUser
