We did not place this chandelier, but I think it may be Capitol lighting.

In the family sitting room, we have a 5 arm pendant light on a dimmer switch, with 3 matching 2-arm wall lights. One further single wall light. We have one desk lamp, and lighting above the glass shelves of the alcove and in the inglenook fire place. The OH also has a floor standing, adjustable angle light for reading. In the other sitting room we have, 4 down lights, a centre ceiling light with 5 arms, 4 table lamps in the corners, 2 wall lights and lights in shelving alcove and in the wall of bookcases. Like others have said, they're obviously not on all at once.

Dear cjc, kiki, & dorset -- these are fantastic ideas. I have found several options that come close thanks to your comments. I've made a collage of some faves. (The small dark pewter pendant (x 3 over kitchen island) is the shape I am trying to co-ordinate with). It's 7 inches in diameter (looks bigger in the collage; it's not to scale) Let me know if you have a view about which 'cloche style glass pendant' option works best. Thanks again.

Hi Angel This a a common questions and it always comes down to what minor things you can sacrifice to get the best of all worlds. Do I have a pendant to create a dining zone? Do I try and retain the view outside? Do I make the space versatile for parties? In my opinion a light over the table looks great if you do not have one already over the kitchen island (if you have one). Keep the light above head level (of most of your usual guests) so that you can talk to each other . It may be worth cutting out cardboard and offering it above the table to see what works for you. The light doesnt have to be too imposing it could be something light the light below. or maybe something that is a feature but still see through like the below There are not many rise and fall lights out there that can really reduce that much to be out of the way on a standard height ceiling but if you have tall ceilings then it could work. Oh no way! My apologies re the comment 🙈 what were the chances of that! You’re right- some are so plastic & naff looking. Thank you for the suggestions. It definitely needs to be flush. It doesn’t matter if not IP44. I want it to look glam but appropriate for the bathroom if that makes sense? Some I’ve seen look more suited to a lounge...
