Painting fitted wardrobes?!
Comments (6)Or you could try annie Sloan chalk paint. Great if you're a novice painter and no prep needed, her old white paint would work. You can also distress them if you want, read up on it on her website. Do you think you could remove the decorative plinth or whatever it's called as that is really dating them?. I'd buy the door knobs after you've painted to see if you like it as they can be dear and you need a few. You could also try wallpapering the middle section at the back. I've attached an image from littleenglandandco but go for something contemporary and quite bold. It should (hopefully!) draw your eye to this rather the wardrobes....See MorePainting fitted wardrobes?
Comments (62)Hello fhparis I painted my 1980's fitted dark brown wardrobes a year ago. I was able to remove a shelf which i used to practice on and to get an idea of the finish i could achieve. Or indeed if i could do it. Your wardrobes are lighter in colour which is a plus. I mentioned the products i used in an earlier post. Dont underestimate how long it will take to do. I think i applied 3 undercoats and at least 3 top coats. It was well worth the effort and cost a fraction of buying new wardrobes. The pics show 2 sets of painted wardrobes. Best of luck with your project...See MoreRedecorating bedroom with fitted wardrobes - help!
Comments (10)We're all for a bit of hard work, and would definitely paint the cupboards. You are right not to use F&B, it's an inferior paint compared to dulux, and not correct for your purposes, being Eggshell finish. Dulux Trade Satinwood is far better, gives a better finish and is hardwearing. ( It's also more expensive than F&B i'm afraid, but you get what you pay for ). I'd paint the cupboards in a pale grey and replace the knobs. Give the area behind the bed a good dark grey finish, to help with making your choice of headboard really stand out. A quick rough paint idea using Dulux Night Jewels 2 and 6...See MoreCan anyone recommend a sliding wardrobe doors company with reasonable
Comments (3)I do quite a lot of these. I'd recommend buying off the shelf doors ( Wickes are surprisingly good ) and have a handyman / joiner to fit them. Is there a reason why you need made to measure? Standard doors are 2220 high, you will obviously need a frame to hang them from, so if you bring the top down to the standard height, you will save on having made to measure. Is that possible? Unless you know how they are going to be fitted, then i'd ask a joiner / handyman first. Sliding doors are heavy items and need a good frame to fix to. So i'd take advise on that before ordering something. Get at least three quotes and ideas and compare them all. Not trying to put joiners out of work, but they charge an awful lot more than a handyman. However, do your research, and find one that has a good portfolio of work!...See MoreIQ Furniture
