Need help to revamp lounge
Comments (8)As you have such an extensive window area, I would avoid too much heavy curtailing and definitely no pelmets, frills or tie-backs. I think I would go for a plain linen that hangs well in a pale colour that will complement, not precisely match, whatever wall colour you choose and of course the lovely fireplace. A blind instead of a curtain would look better on the small side window. So you don't end up with a sea of beige, why not find a large rug to sit in the centre of the room, around which to group the furniture. You could then pick out colours in the rug in scatter cushions and other items...See MoreRevamp of lounge
Comments (2)Thank you for that, it's given me some ideas. Although my husband would like red, that's not for me. The only other though I had was copper but difficult to do....See MoreLounge Revamp
Comments (9)The pool sounds very nice! I think you'll have to treat the dining room and lounge as one. I assume the jade curtains are new so what about a dark inky blue feature ŵall on the wall adjacent to the sofa and tv (you could also repeat in dining) to give it a cosy feel? The rest of the walls could be a mid grey (not too dark) with a blue undertone. You could then accent in a deep red? Longer term I see you appear to love bookcases so would maybe think about one on that end ŵall. I'd pull the sofa away a little from the curtains for now and longer term maybe add 1/2 chairs. What type of fireplace were you planning as the curtains are quite close? Maybe a leather accent chair in that corner keeping with a cosy feel ( Am I right in thinking jo'burg isn't that hot btw?!)...See MoreEntrance Hall and Beams revamp
Comments (10)Hi. I agree with Sonia, I would paint the beams in an off white or similar. It will lighten the hall and make the room feel so much taller. This is another arts and crafts house where they’ve done the same. The panelling in this one has been done in farrow and ball shaded white. I’d look at something like that with a complementary “white” for the ceiling. Is the fire original to the house given its proximity to the window? Id probably paint it in the wall colour so it doesn’t stand out as much against the window. I’d consider Parquet or oak planks as they were very typical for A&C houses I believe. Good luck, looks a great house :)...See MoreDaisy England
