How is the concrete eating area mounted on the kitchen Island?

Hi looking to add something similar to my kitchen island. What materials were used? How was the concrete mounted onto the kitchen island?

This is in situ cast concrete, formed using timber formwork

Present it as a dining room when you sell. Ideally, the space would look best with an oblong dining table and no sofa. But removing the sofa and just moving the table into the room is fine. A plain white/linen tablecloth would help hide the chairs; flowers always go down well. Personally I think the space is definitely too cramped for a sofa and dining area, and since you have a lounge, you want to present the house to look as spacious as possible. Consider a narrow console table against the wall, under the pictures, once you rearrange things.

Hi tani, the scaffolding one would be ok but will not give the sleeker square box section look your after, if it’s not too far, id take robin up on the offer to go on the welding course, you’d easily be able to put that together and cheaply as you’ll have access to their equipment, welding isn’t hard, getting it neat is the harder thing :-) I used to weld a long time back, never leaves you and very handy! As said, that’s not an expensive frame, esp if you can do it yourself, degreased raw metal and a coat if lacquer would be exactly what your after.

Definitely. My original kitchen was developer’s kitchen —ie, it photographed well but did not function. The only place to put a table in the kitchen itself would have been in front of the back door, which is itself a natural thoroughfare from the open plan living room. Now I have a lovely breakfast bar/peninsula facing the brightest part of the kitchen, and I can easily spend hours there over breakfast, brunch or coffee. Dinner I tend to eat in front of the tv, and when I’ve visitors the main table in the dining room is used.

I made two different layouts of your house. Hope it may inspire. Left: First floor similar to yours, but some tweaks on the wardrobe and ensuite area, to make better use of the space (in my opinion). Ensuite is 170cm wide, so either walk-in shower or bath tub would fit. Hinged or pocket door, I'm not set on a type. Created a landing cupboard for towels and such. Utility could be a bit wider, as 160cm is tight. Hallway has a shelf or shallow shoe cabinet next to the front door, more place to stand and welcome people. Coats with bench can go a bit further in. Lounge rotated as interior psychology makes us feel more at ease when we can see who's coming in. Kitchen in C shape, nice looking hutch opposite, tall units in the middle of the room, bench with storage (under and above) top right with table. And an extra sofa. Right: First floor completely different. Extension has two smaller bedrooms and new bathroom. Two bedrooms on the right turned into master suite, bathroom wall moved over to the right. Again added a landing cupboard. Kitchen diner with an island looking into the room (though the whole thing could be rotated ccw if you don't want the sink to go under the window), round table with very comfy chairs, so a sofa is not required.
