Painting bedroom walls and ceilings the same colour

Hi! My bedroom is a really odd shape with many doors because of built in wardrobes in the eaves. We have curved walls into ceilings on most walls so it’s impossible to find the end of wall and the start of the ceiling!

I have chosen Little Greene Livid colour for the walls to paint half height with brilliant white for the ceiling and top part of the walls. (which we have already done)

Hubby and I are thinking that we might like to paint the ceiling and all the walls the same Livid colour. Would it look ridiculous? Should we leave all the wood work white or paint it exactly the same colour?

I have attached a couple of pictures of the oddly shaped room, and one of inspiration. Forgive the mess of my pictures!. Where the bed is in my picture will be dressing table or chair (I am thinking of feature wallpapering that wall because it is a’flat’ wall) and a different bed will go in front of the wall with the wooden shelf on top.

The room is north facing and we like that it doesn’t get a lot of light! But the window is white PVC so I am wondering if we should stick the white woodwork..

Hello cubacuba, When painting a room one colour it's advisable to consider variations on a theme.. So all woodwork a shade lighter or darker than wall colour. It makes for a more interesting scheme. In addition you can layer the furnishings in the same way and add textures... This is what will give the room some depth.. Repeat the scheme for the bed too with layered cushions and throws to compliment the room and complete the scheme.. :))

Ah, ok that makes a little more sense now. I thought maybe the bed would run parallel with the beams with equal space either side and the mural behind the bed. Hence my idea for making a feature of the ceiling with either the mural or the beams. The stud wall sounds like the perfect place for the mural tho. As for the rest of the room I think I would paint it all one pale colour, beams included. If you still feel the need for a white ceiling then just paint the horizontal (flat) part and the beams. Reason for this is if you paint the sloping ceilings in white it can look a little choppy and not restful on the eye. Hey Jonathan. Great view. I think your choice of colour depends on what you are going for and what else it has to work with- So the look will kind of depend on what else is going in room- for instance I could see a sawn wood floor, lots of natural linen soft furnishings and some brushed nickel accessories. I think this would go really well with a soft white. If your intention was to add some patterned fabric to the main room to continue the wallpaper theme, a beige carpet and an ornate bed then I think a stronger colour for the walls than the illustrated neutral would be better. I found the Dulux Visualator, or whatever it’s called, to be pretty useless. I used it once to visualise my old sitting room colour just to see how accurate it was. My walls were Dulux Elderflower so compared it on the Dulux online thingy and it was completely different!
