I really like the design of this.....

I was ideally looking for a wood table that had a warmer, medium colour (oak or similar), so the final colour on this is paler than I want. I notice it has already been varnished, presumably with a clear varnish. Would you consider it advisable for me to varnish it again myself with a darker varnish?

I threw them all away at the weekend! I did also like one that had a touch of brown though so very likely to be those! The samples only cost £2 I think so would definitely order them. We are just doing the house up to rent for my father-in-law so it's really like for like replacing with white suite (has a 70s one at the mo!), limited tiling and a vinyl wood effect floor.

Am assuming you don't use the garage to park a car in, but still need garage space for storing bikes and stuff - so keep the front half of the garage as bike/storage space and then incorporate the back of the garage into the house and knock through from the kitchen. move the toilet into the middle of the house and also create a utility room there. That leaves the whole of the back of the house for kitchen/dining and leaves the Family Room as a snug/family room and the Lounge as proper front room (one of these rooms could also be a kids playroom, depending on ages of kids and how much separation they need). Glass doors can be added to the Family Room to separate it more but still be visible and let light into it.

I bought my Bianco marble from Floors of Stone - the sister company of Devol kitchens. I fell in love with it at their showroom and preferred it to the Calcatta and Carrara because it seemed more subtle. The price was actually really reasonable because I got it in one of their regular sales. However - despite loving it, my bathroom fitter hated it!!! It was a nightmare to put up. It also had to be sealed. The tiles were really brittle and when cut, it was as if they were made of crushed glass glued together. It was very strange! Do I regret it? No - it’s been up almost a year and I still love it. However it’s still early days really. Would I do things differently? Perhaps! However I just fell in love with them and I didn’t find a porcelain that had the same variation as the marble. I think if I went with porcelain, I’d go for something completely different, and not marble look-a-like.

Hi. The magnet design looks almost identical to what you have now apart from the sink being moved is that correct? Can the nib of wall on the left with the radiator on it be removed completely as this along with the massive fridge and breakfast bar is what is making the kitchen feel very separate from dining area. I would lose the massive fridge and get something integrated and full height like the current tall cupboard you have to left of garden door. If you can remove the bib then you can either extend the units out along the stove side to provide more cupboard space or you could put a built in banquette there for people to perch on and chat to you whilst you are cooking? It depends what you really need, more storage, more work surface or more options for seating? Personally I’m not sure the sink would work well shoved under the window I know it’s the fantasy but really how much time do you spend washing up and staring dreamily at the back garden? It looks a bit cramped to me. Try and imagine yourself in the space using it and how practical it would be. Assess exactly how many units you need to store your stuff and don’t have more cupboards for the sake of it. If you have a banquette you can have lift up seats for storing little used items which can be very useful. Anyway hope that’s some food for thought :)
