Hi Mauricio - the answer is neither. The glazing shown here in this image is frameless structural glass. The sightlines you see are the spacer bars within the double glazed units and a high modular structural silicone seal that is sealing the units together to create a frameless glass wall with connecting frameless glass roof.

You can see the internal view of this glass box here which shows the all glass design a bit better.

Hi Am following this thread with interest - I have windows like this throughout my house and am finding it really difficult to decide on suitable treatments. On the upside it means the house always looks light and airy! We currently have a series of temporary roller blinds downstairs which work pretty well, but in the bedrooms we have curtains - although they now cover the radiators so not keen as a long term solution. Would also like to have blackout in the two main bedrooms. Does anyone know if extra wide roman blinds are available anywhere? We'd like an unfussy look. Suggestions and pics most welcome. Thanks.

Dear Buggypie, thank you for all the kind words :-). Originally the work was planned to take 5 months but once we stripped out we found a few issues with the current foundation and structure, therefore we added a few more weeks to the contract. The property is located in the Hampstead conservation area and planning application was required. Over all, creating a green roof is a straightforward procedure and not costly at all. It lowers the impact on neighbouring properties from above, reduces the surface rainfall run-off, improves sound insulation, reduces heat loss & increases the life of waterproofing membranes lying at the base of the roof. It will also provide an important microclimate for insects & bird life and contributes to the conservation area in general. However, the most important reason we suggested it is so that the client could look at a garden from the master bedroom rather than a black pondy roof. Hi First thing is you need to find a Architect who can draw the plans for you.. shop around for the best prices. Architect will come visit you and then give you a price... it's usually a fixed price for a "drawing" and this will also include everything written up aswell location of windows materials to be used and rules and regulations. The plans then get submitted with a fee to the local Authority for approval. After approval you go ahead and select a builder of your choice. You can also call over Builders before you do the plans in fact it's best if you call builders over first before the plans are done so they can give you an idea of what can be done etc. Again if you want you can shop around for prices ... whether you will provide materials and pay them labour or you just pay them and they get everything and do the job .. which will be much less stressful. Just keep an eye on the materials being used. Your plans/drawing will state what material to be used where.. eg; fire rated plaster boards.. normal plaster boards.. fire rated door frames to be made where.. water proofing in bathrooms.. what insulation to use where etc etc etc... Just ensure you do some research.. even though you won't be building it yourself it's going to be your house and you will be paying your hard earned money to these people to make your house for you so just keep an eye out that the job is well done and to a good standard. I had the same issue, decided to bite the bullet and replace all the windows with aluminium like the shiny new extension. I think consistency is a key part of design, and I have not regretted my choice. I am too much of a stickler for detail not to become increasingly annoyed at the difference.
