Losing the will to live with grey carpets...!!
Comments (3)We ended up going with Cormar after all, the Primo Ultra range in 'Cloudy Bay'. It's what I would call 'greige'... if you put brown things on top of it, it would pick the brown / beige and if you chose grey things, it would pick out grey. Ryalux was definitely out of budget, but we got a fantastic deal from a carpet shop called Mayjay Flooring in Elsecar, Barnsley on the Cormar. They were fantastic and had plenty of choice (and patience) for us!...See MoreWalls colour to go with Persian carpet
Comments (10)I tend to think it's really worth deciding what it is you want to jump out and be a feature and what it is you'd rather wasn't noticed ;) If the rug is one of the loveliest things in the room and you want that to feature more (plus set against parquet floor which is lovely too) then I'd probably choose a colour that doesn't overpower the rug. Saying that and putting rug to one side I would personally be inclined to keep a dark shade (particularly as it appears to set off the sofa nicely) - maybe Stiffkey Blue or Pelt by F&B would work. If that would still overpower the rug (and this is to be a feature you want picked out) then go light and perhaps take it onto the ceiling too/ pick out the coving/ picture rail/ skirting and doors with a different shade. I did my lounge in Blackened (walls + ceiling) with Cornforth on woodwork/ doors / Wimborne on picture rail and coving. I would personally lose the curtains/ pelmet - looks a bit 'heavy' and quite dominating - however if those are lovely (hard to tell from pic) then again to make them more of a feature then go light on the walls.... Hope helpful - good luck!...See MoreGrey room what colour carpet
Comments (17)Hi Joanne. I think a matt black table may overpower the room a little. Perhaps look for something with a black frame or legs or even a glass table table to maximise feeling of space. If the budget can stretch I would go for wood, something similar to what you have with grey'ish and blonde tones or sand your floor. Pic frames would keep fairly thin if in black. You could stick to the colour palette you have and add texture and pattern and just add splashes of colour in art and with good quality faux flowers. Mustard I think is a little strong against pale grey but perhaps shades of blue, green or grape or muted tones mixed with a little darker grey. The room may be too small for 2 chairs but draw templates and try. If not one chair would be great angled against the cabinet. If you need extra seating consider an upholstered footstool instead of a coffee table. What type of ŵall lights are you having as that will dictate what goes in the alcoves? I hope you don't mind me saying but I would paint the picture rail grey, it looks a little low so will increase ceiling height and you won't have the break with the chimney breast. If you do have to go for carpet, paint a piece of card and take it along to the carpet shop with you....See Moregrey carpets - colour schemes
Comments (10)Congrats on your new home, you have a blank canvas which is fantastic! Have a hunt through the photos on Houzz for living room pics you like. Add them to an Idea book. You can then review the idea book to see if there are themes you have focused on. Maybe you like country style, or mid century, or boho. Once you have got an idea of that, then look at the colours you are drawn to. Maybe you like greens, or blues. Now you have style, colours, you can start thinking about putting the room together. A classic start if to do the 60%, 30%, 10% rule. 3 colours where your walls at 60 will be the dominant colour, 30% will be things like sofas and curtains and 10% are your accents like cushions. Post photos and thoughts on this thread about the stuff you have found. The community on here is fantastic and will give you great feedback on your choices and help you think of stuff you wouldn't normally have considered. Good luck and I am looking forward to seeing what you do!...See MoreDaisy England
