Help needed with my daughter's bedroom
Comments (6)Hi Why cant you close that hole up where the ladder goes and install new stairs (standard ) on the wall to your right or left of the doorway? Taking up the whole wall? You would lose 1m max of the width of the room and could possible get the bed under the stairs along the window wall. Forgive me if im wrong and theres not enough space? If it needs to be narrow then make a ladder similar to what you have now just less shallow instead of the stairs. I would love to have a look and advise. Comments (8)Hi Katy. Pretty room. I agree with Isidora above. Some nice prints or framed photos of your daughter and her friends would break the wall space in the room. It would add colour and add personality to the room. The bedroom furniture is lovely and is neutral, so if you're apprehensive about painting it, why not try some new knobs for the lockers and wardrobes instead. This can add some character without the hassle of painting. There are a few companies that do a great selection of knobs. Here is a link for one that I have used before. Best of luck. Comments (11)Chloeloves, thank you so much. I will dare to start on the painting!! We did the fireplace in the lounge so I know how much work it is! I've had someone offline suggest putting the desk/vanity type thing between the wardrobes so it sounds like that is a good idea. I was a little worried about it looking really cluttered when you walk in the room. Maybe more a dressing table with mirror above versus a desk with shelves above? Jonathan, thanks for the layout! I tried moving the bed around and did like it positioned up by the window like you suggest, the room feels more open that way. Do you think books should do above desk or on separate bookshelf. Do you think the desk should be made (we know a good carpenter) and painted same as wardrobes or should I get a 120cm like the Malm one from IKEA to slot in? Could paint doorhandles different colour? Also was planning on using same curtain poles as rest of house - chrome - but haven't got much space between window and wardrobe so am a bit worried it won't look right. We had white tracks before. Any suggestions? Thank you all!...See MoreJack and Jill bathroom. Keep it get rid?
Comments (5)I have just had the exact same question with our bathroom. The only difference is that our daughter is 17 :) We decided to keep the door as the bathroom is right at the top of the stairs so it just gives her a bit more privacy. As to whether it would affect resale? I don't think it would matter either way, if you already have 2 ensuites then losing one wouldn't be an issue. If your daughter is only 4 and you don't plan on staying until she's a teenager then I would probably block it up....See MoreE D
