Help for my parents hallway and living room!

Hello!

My parents are redecorating.

Their first port of call is one hallway and the ‘TV’ room.

I was thinking a beautiful eclectic (though neutral coloured) wallpaper for the room and have no ideas for the hallway - can anybody advise?

It may just be the photograph but to me it looks as though the floor should have been prepared (sanded down more). It always pays to spend good time on the preparation. The photo also looks like the room might be in shade for some part of the day so might be a bit dark, plus your having a dark sofa by the sound of it. perhaps sand the floors and go for a light or clear coloured sealer not too shiney. Perhaps look out for a large rug as if the room hasn't been soundproofed it could be noisey for the people below and echoey for you. Don't rush and as someone else indicated don't have too much large furniture. Check if you can buy nice blinds off the shelf that would be the right size, you can then get them more reasonably than made to measure.

My step-son is doing the same thing. The one thing that annoys all parents is that my son goes on... And on... And on! Don't do that. Ask maybe once a week at the very most. Just say e.g."mum, my room isn't as nice as (friends name) and I am running out of places to store my homework and my bed is that comfortable." Then when you are getting the desk and bed say "oh that bed would look nice with this colour paint. "The curtains match this paint aswell" etc. That might just work :)

I tried to place furniture in your room, but do not know where is window or not. So I got what I got. I am sure the round dining table will be better. I just did not have it in my software. Try to move two sofas on different direction. may be both on the corner would be better. Round table is on other corner.

Wow, what a big space! What is great here is that you have lots of room to play with. It really depends on what style you are going for. However here are some ideas! For the entrance way, a lovely console table would be a wonderful addition against the opposite wall to the door. Something reflective to help keep the place looking bright! This could be decorated with some accents like some bright flowers that really pop against the neutral wall. Maybe a little tray to put your keys and purse in as well! Can't see the space behind the door however maybe a statement coat hanger? Or it could even be placed in the left corner, near the double doors. For the living room space, I would keep the white chesterfield sofa and build around that. A white gloss coffee table would be great as it would reflect the light helping to keep the room bright and light, and easy to clean! https://omnari.com/shop/furniture/tables/coffee-tables/white-gloss-coffee-tables/ A wall mounted TV would look amazing against the marble wall, however if you prefer - maybe some art? For this I would pick out some statement art that incorporates hints of the general colour scheme. Also, a cabinet for storage! Hope this helps you and good luck with your design adventure!

For the hallway,I would give it a a light paint colour and definitely change the flooring to something quite light to brighten it all up.Perhsps some floor lighting thought might be a bit OTT! so some downlighters instead.good luck.
