Help me arrange this room!!
Comments (9)In brief:- I agree about doing away with the fire surround. It' not a working fireplace and takes up needless room. Secondly:- The T.V / Drawers problem. Remove the black cupboard from the foot of the bed. Either buy a second matching or single armoire to use as a t.v cupboard / drawer storage. Or maybe something like this which i made for our house. We split the mirror from the chest of drawers below it ( simple, they're attached with screws ). I then made the mirrored part in to a cupboard that could be moved further up the wall to house the T.V and used the Chest of Drawers below for Storage. I actually mounted a blanket box on the Chest of drawers to make another larger unit. ( another story )You get more room between the end of the bed and the wall opposite this way, with the wires not on show. Take away the console table laid over the radiator, it'a a nice radiator and it serves a purpose, but the table is doing it no favours at all. If you don't want the rad on show then give it a proper radiator cover. It's a bay window, so you have room to create a bay window seat if you wish, which adds a little character. Also gives you a little more storage Lastly the standard lamp belongs in a corner, currently where placed, it's almost in the middle of the room and looks a little daft, but maybe that was just a result of the 'pushing round the furniture' incident. I love the idea of the Navy, but I'd probably go for less is more in a bedroom, so maybe have the one very plush wall behind the bed, although, if you combine the navy with all white furniture to brighten it, I agree it will look lovely....See MoreHelp me add wall art to our dining room
Comments (5)Hi I am an artist in England and specialise in bespoke art - but I am guessing you are in the US - here is my advice you can look online at saatchiart.com search for price range size style (abstract etc) and even colours there are affordable pieces to be had, you can also select those from the country you are in to minimise shipping costs. Or you could go to a company that prints photos onto large canvases and pick out one or two of your own photos (landscape, seacape, trees etc you will have an affordable solution and something that reminds you of a favourite place or time. You can afford to go bright and bold in this space. From an aesthetic point of view - can you raise the light? even 10 inches would help :)...See MoreHelp me with my reception room
Comments (14)Hi Mutaha2010, I would definitely love to see how you get on with dressing the room, so please post up some pics when you’ve finished. With regards to the layout of your room, the positioning you have at the moment works well for the space. However, if you definitely feel like change, your suggestion of swapping the larger sofa position with the two arm chairs would work perfectly. You will create an inviting corner sofa shape with the two sofas at a right angle to each other. With this new layout in mind, I would keep your lovely rug in the same position, but rotate the coffee table so that it becomes parallel with the window and sofa. Decorative wall art pieces are fab additions for any room. A designer tip when hanging items such as pictures, clocks and mirrors, is to keep the measurement from the floor to the piece consistent throughout the room. By using this method, your eyes will be effortlessly drawn around the space. I hope that this helps, and wishing you the best of luck with your project! Comments (25)Oh my word! Dyson is adorable! so ickle!! Now I wanna find a Rune (his name - like rune stones.. not like Rooney 😂) sized box to put him in. Thanks for the 3rd design! I'm always impressed how you come up with such interesting designs (compared to my rectangle of grass with straight boarders I'd envisioned) I think we still prefer the 1st design in part because Chris want's to keep more of the grass. I'd be tempted though to put some sort of low fence to deter Rune from eating crops so maybe I could put some plants against it and growing up that to help disguise? I think the old paving slabs is the best way forward atm instead of the stones... I never truly appreciated how many stones there were just around the garden... just around on the grass.. close to the house and rubble left from the building work, random ones on the small remaining bit of patio that I think have been kicked in from the driveway... Ironically the pile of new ones all in one place are the easiest to keep him away from! (doing the driveway has also jumped up to a higher priority for the year! 🙈) Does Dyson like your Dyson? (assuming you have one) I managed to terrify him the other day when I tried to clear up some of the bits of grass we'd brought back in with us (despite having a treat at the time!)...See MoreE D
