Comments (9)Hi Gerty, we think there's nothing quite like the natural look and feel of real wood. It's timelessly stylish and strong. An engineered wood floor will provide even better stability than a solid as it's constructed of three sturdy layers. And if you're ever thinking of moving home in the future, real wood will add value and be attractive to buyers. As for your worries about fading, natural light will naturally mature your floors colour over time. We recommend that you take care to move around any large pieces of furniture and rugs every so often to allow an even maturing of colour across the floor. Something as simple as drawing the blinds during hours of bright sunlight could help too. We have a number of resources on our blog which could be handy when making your decision: 10 Reasons to Choose Wood Flooring Engineered Wood: The Fantastic Benefits How to Clean Wood Flooring I hope that helps. Comments (2)As you've chosen Dulux Rock Salt for your walls, I would be inclined to have their satinwood paint mixed in the same colour for your wall units in stead of an off white. An off white is likely to clash with your tiles and worktop. Whereas, if you have your wall units the same colour as your walls, they will tie in and give a more polished, seamless look. If you want you could go for a darker grey on the bottom. Pain the units in Satinwood as it's a longer lasting paint. If you like the Wilko paint colour, get a tester pot and get it mixed and colour matched at Dulux, it will be the right paint then. A dark pewter grey will go with your tiles, worktop and wall units. The ceilings should be matt white. I hope you're taking the opportunity to have a little shift about of the units, the great big Chimney is far too large for the room and needs to come out along with the shelf running round the top. Here you see if you use the light colour on top to match the walls, with the dark on the bottom everything looks light and airy. Good luck....See MoreNeed Flooring help please for an open plan kitchen/dining/living space
Comments (21)Hi there, When it comes to engineered wooden floors they have been designed to work in conjunction with under floor heating so there is no issue there. If you are looking to go for a wooden floor then we would recommend going for an engineered board with a brushed and lacquered finish. The brushed texture will hide and scratches or scuffs that may occur, the lacquer on the board. Generally our boards come with 8 coats of Super Matte Lacquer. The lacquer will help protect the board from any spillages seeping into the board. If you have an idea of the colour you would be looking to go for we would be more than happy to suggest some suitable products. We also have some very realistic laminate Flooring by Kronoswiss. The Kronoswiss origins ranges comes in at 14mm thick. It is An AC5 Grade, each laminate is graded between AC1 - AC5. AC5 being the most durable. These boards have been designed to take heavy traffic. The origins range comes with the new Aqua stop technology, stopping spillages from seeping into the board for up to 72 hours. Giving reassurance if any spillages do happen. Here are some of the boards from the Origins range. This is the Kronoswiss Rock Oak Kronoswiss Moon Kronoswiss Sunset. See full range here. If you do have any further queries or suggest a colour of flooring we will try our best to point you in the right directions. Comments (37)Bonkers… aaaarrrggghhh! We don't know what to say, Tani. Not acceptable but this trade of ours is poor at this sort of thing. Mind you, you do get them FOC. Paint… there's another story. Have to pay £5+ for a weeny sample pot. Delays are flippin' annoying but much better to make sure you are certain about your choice. We don't have a display unit in our showroom (drat!) otherwise we'd suggest you come and have a look whilst sipping on one of our exceptionally decent coffees....See MoreHazel Kindley
