The virtually Frameless 20mm sliding door is designed with simplicity in mind, making wall-to-wall and floor-to-ceiling glass a real possibility.

Each panel has a maximum width of 2.0m and a maximum height of 3.0m. With our project-specific consultation service, we are able to design unique possibilities including two virtually frameless doors that sit perpendicular to each other on adjacent walls. They can meet in the corner alongside a frameless fixed glass panel or you can have the two opening door panels meeting at a fixed corner post. When the doors are open, the design of the doors can give a real gravity-defying look and feel.

The doors can be made any of the 150 RAL colours with RAL 7016 anthracite grey and RAL 9005 Black as standard – lead time for these colours is 3 to 4 weeks. Additional RAL colours can be selected at an extra cost with a six week lead time.

At 1st Folding Sliding Doors, we do not compromise thermal efficiency. All our glazing comes specified as standard with heat soaked toughed glass double glazed units. Additional options include solar reflective glass and heat-filled glass with our lowest U-Value of 0.5 to meet even the most challenging environments.

Fiona - I’ve been looking into replacing some doors with Crittal style and have contacted loads of suppliers and companies. The one that I’ve been most impressed with is the company mentioned above by Lou Valdini - Merlin Windows in Yorkshire. (I’m in the East Midlands). They gave me a competitive quote really quickly and then I got a quote from the fitter mentioned. (They fit across the UK and they link in with Merlin to ensure timings etc). It’s likely that we will go ahead in the next few months. (Just need to convince husband as he prefers chunky timber 😂)

Hi Justin, thank you for taking the time to reply to our query. It is difficult to compare systems because Deceuninck have not published very much technical information about that specific product on their website, but whilst in general terms uPVC may be able to perform fractionally better for U-values than aluminium (it depends on the system), our experience is that with slide and swing doors the weather rating (water tightness, air permeability and wind loading) tend to be much lower. I would also query the information you were given about security. The reason I say that is I cannot find any reference to their slide & swing doors having been tested to PAS24 standards (Building Regs Doc Q) or Secured by Design award standards. The technology of slide and swing doors is developing quickly, but it is starting from nearly 25 years behind bifold doors so will take some time to catch up - that said they are moving along quickly and in certain circumstances offer an alternative to bifold doors. I have just had Cortizo 4700 3 track sliding sash doors fitted and am astounded that they are fabricated with internal drainage holes on the internal side of the threshold track which results in excessive condensation on the internal threshold track and bottom of the sash frame and window pane. Cortizo are fobbing me off saying its condensation caused by generalised atmospheric conditions which is rubbish because, as an experiment, I plugged these internal drainage holes and the cold air flow and condensation was eliminated. I don't know how Cortizo can make claims about thermal efficiency and air tightness etc when these internal drainage holes simply permit freezing cold air flow from the outside to the inside and cause condensation issues in the immediate area of these opern apertures. See photos If anyone can suggest an alternative sliding door system which does not have internal drainage holes, please let me know.
