Bungalow plans, ideas needed for my architect
Comments (121)I have built-in closets under the eaves of an American Bungalow style house in three bedrooms. They measure about 6'x 4', and my son even has a bed in one that is slightly larger, but the ceiling height is between about 2 1/2 and just barely 5 feet, so they aren't as efficient as they can be. In the master, I moved the rod to the back wall (it used to be only the depth of a hanger from the door) and down to a height to hang shirts and jackets, a little over 3' up, and this freed up the two existing short rods on the sides that are set about 4 plus feet up from the floor--long enough for most dresses, skirts and suits and such. This sort of U shaped arrangement works pretty well and the corners are for boxed out of season clothes and a short revolving (sort of a wire Lazy Susan) shoe rack....See MoreOpen plan kitchen in 3-storey townhouse
Comments (23)Sadly we concluded that the quotes we got (~£30k upwards) didn't warrant the benefit, and we've since moved house - albeit for different reasons. The closest we got was to continue the stairs straight to where the WC was and create a little hallway for the end of the stairs and the front door to open into, thereby not having the kitchen open to the stairs any more. This also gave us the ability to have slightly more space in the kitchen as well, so changed to units down the RH side, with an island where it is in this picture, and then add glass or pocket doors into the front room, to allow it to be used as a playroom. I hope that helps you somehow!...See MoreRenovation of London Victorian terrace - need creative layout advice:)
Comments (36)Hi there! I’d love to hear what you are using the under the stair spaces for. It looks like the bike could fit under the stairs near main entrance comfortably. You then could use the current bike area for the utility i.e. muddy stuff mops and sports equipment. As such you would need to install shelves to add on the storage space. I’d like to agree with Minipie that, if you really love for the bike area to remain as is, as I feel you might, the next best position for the utility is in the basement. The basement offers several advantages as compared to hiving off a space on G.F, especially when you consider the available space which you’d require to store all the stuff you said. I imagine sports equipment for example would need quite a generous area. I like the idea of a cosier retiring area for the library and I would really recommend an alterations for that. As for a pantry usable from the kitchen, options look really limited but I’d know what you think about moving the toilet across to the opposite void area, and then converting the new space to a pantry. It’s both proximal to the kitchen island, and will also not complicate the plumbing process, since you also want to introduce a sink in there. Hope this is useful! Comments (15)Thanks Jonathan. yes, i expect the developer to be reluctant. But I plan to present it to them as a win. There are a number of ways they will benefit from it. Hopefully, from their perspective not building these walls is less work. There are a few things included in price I won’t want: - 4 radiators (Id have underfloor Heating downstairs) - tiling in the kitchen (I’d make all wooden floor) - Fridge - I’d like an American style fridge which they don’t seem to offer. I’d be willing to give up the fridge if they go my way My alternative would be to ask them to have all of it uninstalled and sell it to fund the work I need to do myself/hire someone. The only cupboards I would lose are the corner ones. But Id gain some storage space in the kitchen island (i was looking at multifunctional ones). And we would leave the first bit of a wall on the left to put some shelving if needed. I’m not thinking of loft conversion but if I had money for that, I would find it for sprinkles/mist system that would solve the problem....See MoreA B
