Shower over freestanding bath, without a curtain. Is my plan logical?!
Comments (48)Free standing baths are only suitable for larger rooms where you have the ability to position the bath with free access all the way round, I regularly remove them from smaller bathrooms when doing re-fits, people like the aesthetics of the free standing bath and plough ahead and install them against a wall, the result is a disgusting accumulation of dust, fluff, pubic hair etc, this will happen quite quickly and you will regret having gone down this route. The concept of having the bath with no curtain is interesting though, in a bathroom around 2.1m square, most of the bathroom will be effected by splashing, the room will need a wet room floor former, and will require that the whole room is tanked prior to tiling, have a look at. (http://www.wetroominnovations.com) I usually use their Maxus formers and Purus gully traps. you can indeed get a flexible waste connection, have a look at McAlpine "Flexcon" range, these are available through any reputable merchants, these are quite substantial and would stand up to semi regular movement, if your free standing bath is an acrylic bath it won't be too heavy, so moving it would be quite straight forward, but I would suggest having small felt pads on the feet to protect the tiled surface, also from a drying point of view, Karcher have a very good little gadget for cleaning windows, which vacuums up the water, I often mention it to clients and any who have bought one have been delighted at how easy it is to use, it will leave the floor almost dry once you have used it, one note of caution would be your choice of floor tile, you will need a porcelain tile that has an R rating, this is a slip resistant rating and would be most advised. another note of caution, because the splashing will not be controlled, any vanity or wood based furniture will deteriorate. I hope this is of some help....See MoreBraving colour... Maybe
Comments (10)Up to what you prefer regarding paint or paper. I suppose a tin of paint is cheaper to replace if you don't like it. Dulux do overtly olive in their feature wall paint in a 1.25l tin for £13. Olive looks great against an off white or ivory colour for other walls, I'd stick with this for the curtains too or use a light natural shade in a linen. In the accessories use black and/or gold picture frames, black and gold light shades, for the table runner use something natural and use some good accessories to tie in with your mirror. I don't think you need a rug but that's a matter of personal choice and budget - a rug under a table in my house would be impractical as spag Bol would be welded to it in no time. Comments (13)Hi, I've now had quartz worktops fitted in a white with grey and mirror flecks (compact lactea) & attach photos. Cabinets are all done too. My next area is what to do for splashback behind the hob/under the extractor. I originally wanted to do red glass across the length of the wall, but we have had under unit lights fitted below the higher cabinets and at night I can change these to any colour I want. If I do red all across I won't get the effect of the lights. Not even sure red would go? The wooden chairs are going and will be replaced & I still need to choose my island lights (thinking 3 pendants hanging). Husband thinks stainless steel sheet behind hob. I'm not sure this will look right with dark glass hob under it & wonder if it is hard to look clean all the time. What ideas do you all have as you helped with the worktops. I also show the dining table and the new open lounge area (intend to put a rug down). We also still need to find wall lights....See MoreHelp me love this room ☹️
Comments (22)These comments are great! Diana - love your comment on the table Luckily it's just an Ikea table I attacked with spray paint some years ago so more than ready to ditch it! Definitely thinking plants, lamps and maybe a chair with small table under the window. Jules you're right about the Christmas tree - I'm getting it earlier each year to spend more time with it! Sam I love the brick look (and am thinking of including it in the new kitchen - if we ever get around to doing it). Thank you randoms on the internet! Was thinking of getting rid of the shelves and built in cupboard and putting a 'cool' cabinet for the to go on one side and a small table with picture above it the other? Will def put a mirror above the fireplace. Won't be the one in the room now as that's too big - it will be relegated to the landing . Thanks all! X...See MoreA B
