Comments (16)Thanks all! Definitely some food for thought... will look better at keeping the stone work at the front a sort of stoney colour with dark woodwork (hadn't even considered it but seems obvious now it's been pointed out so thanks fellow houzzers!).. the comments on it being up and coming aren't far off... ish... the area is really nice but it's a busy road which knocks it down.. it's a row of about 8 terraces within which there's 2 businesses... two houses.. one b and b and the rest flats.. understandable but a shame as it'll be a while before they realise their potential! thanks for the kind comments with the interior.. a couple more snaps below but we're only a 3rd of the way through the house... and even the done rooms aren't properly done - art to put up.. styling to do.. tweaks to furniture etc.. and these are just quick snaps with the phone.. but hopefully these couple of snaps give a flavour of what we're going for.. took it on as a proper wreck!!...See Morehalf brick splashback & socket colour
Comments (40)These were put in our house 14 years ago - started marking about 6-7 yrs ago and now just before I take them out I can mark with my finger nail. Think the quality of the black sockets are better now. Love the half wall ... and the industrial tiles that have been suggested. It’s going to look great!...See MoreRe-rendering this exterior?
Comments (12)I don't think it's pebbledash I just think it's render that hasn't been painted in years and years? It's fallen off at the back and there's brick behind it. We'd pretty much decided we weren't going to render all if it but I hadn't seen many edwardian houses with the half brick half render so thankyou for the reassurance that this is nice and typical of this era. Now - does anyone have any ideas on paint?!...See MoreNeed help with exterior of house
Comments (2)For a more modern look just render both floors. I would reconsider the roof. When building a roof from scratch you are at a huge advantage when future proofing your home. I would consider eliminating some of those pitches and replacing with gables (which I think look nicer anyway). Also when building the roof structure remove any trusses and supported purlins from the design and make sure the joists are strong enough to create a floor. If you do all this you will have a useable loft space that can be used as a hobby room/ storage and then later if you need an extra bedroom or want to increase the value of your home before selling you can easily and very cost effectively do a loft conversion....See MoreCelery.
