Comments (8)be careful you don't overload the circuit. nice idea having lots of bulbs but work out the amps / watts / volts on your ahem 'ring', I put that in quotes because most UK homes are indeed not 'ring' but in fact long spares connected by one 15 - 20 amp wire designed to run about 15 x 40watt bulbs. Consider a transformer running more low volt low amp options - like LEDs. there are plenty of types that match industrial retro bulb filaments. Also think about the safety of wiring. Most people don't realise that coiling wires and hanging things from metal can affect the current and earth regulations of 'lamps'. high current / fire / safe earthing eyebrows raising. The beauty of a bought option is it will probably have some form of certification and testing involved. We did something similar in an office and each tail connected on a single 12v transformer to an led bulb without an Inverter(cheaper longer lasting). Same effect much safer. It replaced the 'ever exploding bulb spider that was always making the dimmer switches melt option' that ran on 240v looked great, but wasn't really thought through....See MoreVaulted Ceiling Lighting
Comments (4)A good electrician will be best to replace the cable to lengthen them and will guide you as to the height placement for optimum light splay in the room - without seeing it - I’d say try to leave at least 2.4m of clear space below - but also look at any beams or lower ceiling areas in the space and take into consideration shadow lines from them, dependent on where you place these lights . also - if this is going to be a place where you are swinging kettle bells around or skipping with a rope ( a gym in other words ) then you need more clearance below !...See MoreCreate a feeling of one room with half of it having a vaulted ceiling
Comments (2)Hello Charlie Thanks so much for your really helpful comments. Sadly we have been let down by our builder so it is now on hold for a month or two so do not have anything to send you. Totally agree regards having the same colour palette throughout. It is more where to put the log burner. Originally it was going in the middle of the wall in the vaulted area but I was concerned about that then becoming the focal point and so creating 2 rooms. I then thought of putting it up against one of the small nibs and using the nib as one side of the fireplace but then I thought if we have sofas around it one end of the sofa would be under the vaulted ceiling and one end under the lower ceiling!! So I am now thinking maybe we should leave it where it is ie centrally placed in the vaulted area. You say 'so the size of the furniture here is even more essential that the placement'. What do you mean by that? Should it be on the larger size? Again, thanks so much for your help. I will look you up online! Kind regards Jane Field...See MoreVaulted/sloping bedroom ceiling paint advice please
Comments (7)I think you would actually be ok with taking the color over it all. It probably depends more on how you wanted the room to feel. The current lighter tone gives space to the room, but your selection Oval Room Blue, would probably give you a more intimate feel. With white items such as wardrobes etc, it could end up giving a coastal feel which you could build on as a theme with linen bedclothes, lampshades, blinds....See MoreMatt
