When and how to add a pop of colour

I plan on buying that furniture (borrowed pic online) but need advice on what colours and textures go well with the sofas. I don't like brown so those cushions don't do it for me. please help!

You must have a very large living room. Even if you only plan on buying one sofa, it is very bulky, so it does need a quite a lot of space. I hope you kept that in mind?

I think you can just remove the brown cushions, I’m not sure whether they even come with the sofa? But they look as if you don’t need those extra cushions.

Thank you. I agree with you on removing the brown cushions and yes I have considered the proportions and I think they will fit very well. Floors are tiled in white and I was thinking of adding a rug with light gray in it but am not sure. what would you do?

Agree with the need for some colour in cushions and artwork especially, but I also think you need some plants. If you’re worried about looking after them there are lots that are virtually indestructible e.g. succulents

When I had my kitchen put in the builder recommended what I thought was a ridiculous amount of sockets - but now I use all of them. I think it depends what goes on in your kitchen - mine is open plan with the dining room so my sockets are used for everything - kids phones charging, kenwood chef, coffee machine, laptops, lamps etc etc. but this is because there are certain things I leave out all the time. If you are the type of person who puts your appliances away after using them - then less sockets may be needed perhaps? I know it sounds pedantic but try and envisage the times when you are likely to use the most appliances (maybe cooking for guests at dinner or something like that) and plan for that. Its a lot easier to put them in now than to add later.

Hi Yolanda - I'd change the stools, table and chairs, and swap the pendants for something in coloured glass or (personally) metallic, and change the cabinet handles from steel to brass/gold. Instant lift. Splashback-wise, try distressed mirror (suitably tempered and toughened) as it has loads of personality, bounces light around and is easy to clean. Then play with wall colour. Warm accents will stop the wood door from jarring so much (or paint it, if you can convince your husband). You have a lovely kitchen - will take very little to get it where you want!

I am with many commenters on the oak porch idea and maybe rendering the brick section also. I think that would look really stunning! Definitely get rid of the odd door if there is no practical use for it. I also think white windows would probably freshen the place up quite a bit and help it look a little less dated but still with plenty of character. It really is a beautiful space to work with! Lovely property! Also grab a couple tall trees in nice pots for either side of the porch it always adds a touch of grandeur and elegance!

Is there grey in the upholstery fabric? I was thinking that a beige/taupe rug would be good. Difficult to say based on online pics only, but this John Lewis one for example looks pretty good to me. Might be different in real life though. But something like that would work. As long as you get a large enough rug. It needs to be larger than the one in the furniture photo. It looks best if all front legs of the sofa and chairs are on the rug.
