What's the best compliment your home has had?
Comments (19)The best compliment I have had was when I was selling my flat in London. The lady who bought it came with a friend to do some measuring and in the course of the conversation the friend said 'oh I assumed you were an interior designer' when in fact I was a harassed working mother of two! One of my proudest moments :-) The best compliment my current home has had was when I overheard a dear friend telling someone 'You should see Gerry's house, no one else has a house that looks like that, it's so creative' bless her cotton socks....See MoreItem you wished you'd never bought
Comments (35)marivon1 helpful to know, thank you. The UK does not use European/metric sizes. I have not looked into buying Ikea beds in the past as I don't like being restricted to their bed linen, although in the end I don't find much I like in the UK anyway and end up buying linen in Europe, the US or Australia. I had a look and yes, you are right ... last year (2014) Ikea started to stock the smaller UK imperial sized beds but you can still get the European metric ones online. From what you say they have also changed their bed linen to the smaller UK sizes, which makes sense (kind of). http://www.theguardian.com/business/2015/jan/12/ikea-booms-britain-uk-size-smaller-beds-sales http://www.ikea.com/ms/en_GB/pdf/bed_frame_%20size_%20guide.pdf...See MorePOLL: What type of flooring do you have in your living room?
Comments (71)I agree! As it is not always feasible to install real timber or stone, Karndean is the best vinyl option. I am going to have 36sqm of it installed in my own place. I have direct contacts with the manufacturers here in the UK. If anyone is interested, please inbox me and will get you in touch....See MoreYou're going away - who takes care of your pet(s)?
Comments (28)Whenever we can travel abroad by car the cat comes with us and he is happy to face the trip. Otherwise we are blessed with wonderful neighbours who love our cat and look after him when we go away, once or twice a year. They do not feel confident to let him wander in the garden in case he returns late or not at all, so he is forced to stay at home for 2 weeks, sigh! Travelling from the UK and back with a cat is a nightmare due to vaccinations and restrictions of means of transport. On the other end in continental Europe our cat can even come on a plane with me. When planning for a holiday I always visit https://www.gov.uk/take-pet-abroad/overview hoping some restrictions have been waived but not much difference so far. I'd love to have a rescue dog as well but the complicated arrangements have the better of me. Otherwise, for shorter periods, I leave the cat with my husband and viceversa. Pets are our responsibility, they give us immense joy and I do not suffer for making sacrifices....See Morekikiamack
