Kitchen larder cupboard
Comments (18)Thank you 504937. It is me that is the glitch I am afraid. I see what you mean about the larder doors. The drawer between the sink unit and the ovens is 800mm. Do you think that is big enough? I wondered about using a 90cm range cooker instead of 2 ovens, to create some more storage space. With regard to the bin, that is a worry which pops into my head from time to time. I can place a compost bucket and a landfill bin in the 80cm under sink cabinet, but bottles and tins/plastics need a place too. That means a double bin for them. I agree that the end of the island is wrong, and best for a tea towel, especially as it is opposite the radiator (fancoil type)....See MoreBedroom cupboards
Comments (5)Hi Daz, If your budget is low, or you have more important expenditures on the way then paint all over same paint colour, and it will do the job. Although the handles must go! If you budget is slightly higher then remove the beading and change the handles, make good and paint. Some more money will get you a carpenter, who will do all fronts new and professional home decorators to paint. And finally, for a couple of ££££ you could remove the old one and install brand new made to measure wardrobe. The cupboard is made of wood and so appropriate paint must be used. Please make sure you rub down with P120 sandpaper and dust off before painting. Satinwood paint also works as undercoat, eggshell and gloss require undercoat before final coats; and please give it a light rub down with P240 between coats. Good luck! Comments (10)The kitchen seems a little disjointed at the moment with the run on the highest wall being so separated from the rest of the kitchen. I would worry that this would become prime dumping spot! Also what a fabulously dramatic ceiling angle, I'd definitely look to make the most of that. I think you could put all your tall units with up-lights on the tallest wall to really make the eye look up. Also when you're cooking. That frees up the angled wall to make it fabulous with art/open shelves/bit of everything! I think you're right to put one big window by the sink which can then also have art or shelving. The island could perhaps have a more interesting seating arrangement than in a line to try and make the most of the garden views. If you need any more help, feel free to get in touch and we can bounce some ideas around together. good luck Emily x...See MoreKitchen needs help!
Comments (10)What sort of budget are you considering applying to this, and what level of "change" are you planning to make? The "inspiration" image you posted is bang on the money for the sort of optimal layout for the space you have. While shelves above the microwave would work, I'd go one further and replace the countertop microwave for a wall-mounted (in cupboard) one, assuming you can live with slightly less volume in it. That will free up a huge area of countertop, and give cleaner sightlines from the dining area. As for how to add the peninsula - either replace the entirety of the worktop to give a sleek, level look, or build the new peninsula on top of the existing worktop in a contrasting material/colourway. If you are able, I would certainly consider "rejigging" your back wall to make your range much more central, even if that involves a tweak to your extractor ducting. It would make the world of difference. From what imagery you provide, I would contemplate a full renovation of your space now, even if you plan to extend in future - the layout would still work once additional living space is added. Looking at the current layout (which is far from optimal), this is one where I don't think you'll get much benefit from a "slight rejig", half job. I really think a fuller rework will pay bigger dividends. If this were a client coming to us asking to assist with such a set of sub-optimal tweaks, in all good conscience we'd probably decline and encourage them to wait and save for a fuller renovation that gives them a step change improvement and adds value to the property.
