Light Pine Floor finish: how to achieve?
Comments (2)Hi Trinity, What a lovely project! We have achieved this look by using a 2 part treatment, it's called Lye & Soap. A company called Auro supplied ours (they are one of the main suppliers, and give really concise information and support on how to apply). The look we wanted was like the very 'Scandi' Dinesen boards, and this is how they treat their boards. To start with, you will need lye, which bleaches and removes yellow from the wood; then the white soap which cleans, re-whitens and seals the boards. The process is done with a brush or a foam roller and is really easy! The end result is very clean, matte and fresh looking (you tend to find with oils and paints that the end result can look a bit tacky/thick and heavy) But the Lye & Soap is very thin, and just really absorbs into the wood, whereas oil can tend to sit on top. I hope this helps! Good luck! it would be great to see a completed photograph! Holly @ MillChris Developments Ltd...See MorePaint or not to paint, or HOW to paint?
Comments (2)Hi, It depends what you want to achieve. Do you want to make a feature of it.. Go Olive. Or do you want to blend it in and minimise its impact so as not draw attention to it? Regards, Gina...See MorePorcelain stone effect tiles
Comments (10)Many thanks for your comments but not not quite. I am new to stone effect porcelain so I am not describing it well. I found yesterday that it is known to bookmatch marble slabs to create an amazing marble mural and that there is a porcelain marble effect equivalent for example https://www.porcelain-tiles.co.uk/range/bookmatched/. It looks amazing but there is still a replicating pattern because it is "bookmatching". I am wondering if an artist / manufacturer has taken this a step further and created a large mural image requiring a large number of tiles to replicate a whole slice through a mountain of marble ... so the marble mural would be continuous not broken by the tiles and 100 tiles would be unique. And my question initially was about stone rather than marble so that the uniqueness is subtle .. but marble would be nice too....See MoreOptimise existing footprint to achieve dream configuration!
Comments (3)You have a good-sized overall footprint, so I would agree that you don't necessarily need to extend. When you say 'everything' needs doing - from the pictures you've posted, I can't agree. Obviously the decor and look is dated, but it seems liveable. The thing with doing up a house top to bottom - it is hard to think of everything. It's obviously up to you whether you want to do so or not, but it could be a good idea to do a paint job as a 'pep' up, and then live in it for a while to give yourself time to work out what you really want and need. I would say, in terms of the plan, you have a utility 'block' at the front left. It seems apparent this space can accommodate a downstairs bathroom, cloakroom and utility. The hall is absolutely massive, at the expense of several other rooms. You could either reconfigure to take space from the hall back into kitchen / dining on right, or flip the kitchen over into the current living room. Depends on what you prioritise....See Moretheskywasgreen
