Any ideas of how I can re-use this shoe rack? Too pretty to throw

Comments (17)I wouldn't be ashamed, that's kids! What do you use the mini room off the study for? Does the ikea unit have storage baskets? Apparently the kallax replaced your unit so they do the branas basket which should fit? They're £15 each though so not cheap. That may then hide some of the stuff. What if you were to paint it in a chalk or really matt paint and maybe pop an ornament or 2 on top, do you think that would blend better? I would either move your bench elsewhere, or get some baskets to go underneath. You could look at a storage bench ( there are a handful on ebay with free p&p that aren't too dear or have a look at maybe an old fashioned wooden blanket box ( although my nan used to have one and I was convinced it was a coffin!). They are quite big and store a lot and could look good? Have you heard of streetlife? I signed up to it a few weeks ago and people also offer unwanted items on there so may be worth a look. I see the one above the window and perhaps you could continue that theme or maybe use a different plant and interweaving where the two plants meet. If you are going for the luscious look try useing larger waxy leaves, the bonus to waxy leaves is they are generally evergreen too so your garden won't look as twiggy in winter. Comments (0)Hello helpful Houzzers. We want to give our little London garden a mini makeover and would love to get other people's suggestions. Originally we were going to have some muted encaustic tiles near the house, and tufty fake grass for the rest and leave it there. Now we think we want to do more - I'd like it much much greener and to feel more spacious, but not necessarily with open space (I've seen some cute photos where little gardens are made into two interconnecting rooms with a leafy archway between them - but now can't find any of course). We're thinking to lose the round table and get a big long dining table to go parallel to the house under a canopy, festoon lights etc. This area gets the morning sun. The back of the garden is the last spot to get the sun in the afternoon so that's a nice place for seats. It's east facing. So how to reconfigure this into a lush green space?! 5 years agoDefinitely in the garden. It’s so pretty. You could nestle plant pots in it filled with something frothy like aubretia in the spring and campanula in the summer. Or you could grow a Clematis or two through it in your borders.
