Comments (13)Lucy it's a Neff I89EH52NOB island hood. I think if I bought another I would go for the one without glass the I79MT64N1B which covers the whole hob area. I find I have to have mine on high power so that it pulls the steam from the pans on the flexi zone areas of the hob. I like the ceiling extractors but I wasn't sure how efficient and noisy they would be as they have to pull the steam from quite a distance. Comments (58)@Damian Farrell, the induction hob I've had since... what.. July or August? I think? Not that long. Took a while to get used to it, having always cooked on gas. Advantages: very quick, easy to clean, you can let it automatically turn off after a certain time. Disadvantages: sometimes the pans make annoying noises, has something to do with the resonance of the magnetic field I think? I don't know. But it can be a bit annoying. Make:Schott-Ceran, but the downdraft is from a Dutch company called Airo Design. Don't think they export to other countries. Anyway, almost every company does them now. Bora gets good reviews, Miele, Siemens... The videos on youtube show that the steam goes down and you think, yeah... right... But it really does go down. It works just as good, if not better than a regular one that is over the hob. I'm happy with it....See MoreAre induction hobs dangerous?
Comments (10)There are stringent tests on all products before they are launched into the UK market. If you feel that these aren’t sufficient and you feel there’s a danger - don’t buy one. I have faith in the companies testing these products and consequently I have an induction range cooker. This may be proved wrong at some point - it might be a bad thing - but at the moment industry standards are saying they are fine, and it’s so much easier to clean and is just like cooking on gas (with no residual heat or slow start etc ) - I wouldn’t want to go back to gas now....See MoreChanging gas hob for induction. Comments (24)To be honest having an induction or a gas depends a lot on the person and your cooking style. Induction is definitely easier to clean and maintain and it heats up much quicker. It is also safer for homes with children since you won't burn, there is just residual heat from the pots. But, it is not advisable for people who have pacemakers because of the magnetism. And in terms of cooking, it is probably not the best for Asian foods, since you need the woks to have the heat from fire, or if you are doing chapatis, etc. Another things, is that you need to change all your pots and pans for special ones, iron pots are fine. Personally, I find it easier to clean but it doesn't make rice the same way, there is a slight difference in the final result, so for me it is great but I find foods cooked on fire get a better taste (that is just my personal opinion). Still I prefer the convenience of an induction hob. And for the installation, you'll need your electrician to install it for you. Contact the electrician before buying to check what sort of electric works you'll need, and what hob feed is better for your kitchen. Good luck...See Morecjm11
