Paint colours for basement office

Looking for inspiration for how to turn my basement office into an inspiring place to work - flooring going down this week will be oak boards, but stuck on paint colours. Unsure whether to go for white / warmer colour like plaster pink / or even go dark and embrace the fact it's underground with little light. Any thoughts / similar spaces to inspire me please?

I think lighter paint tones would be better for a work environment, like in this image :)

hello Rich, Grey is one of the hottest colors right now. There are many tones and colors to choose from it can be difficult but pick the tones that strike you right away, don't think about it too much. It is typically a good idea to paint a darker tone in an inset or a focus wall. your eyes will typically go to the brightest or strongest color when you enter a room. I would suggest using a dark grey flannel color in the inset and paint the walls a lighter blue grey or soft grey (almost white). Good Luck Chuck Ward Del Mar, California

Try any of the Dulux Light and Space - they're all pale off whites in different shades. Personally, I like Cotton Breeze or Moon Shimmer, but best is to buy tester pots and try them on your walls. http://www.dulux.co.uk/shop/interior-paints/light-plus-space-matt I just remembered we had the loft bedroom done in Frosted Dawn; not the best photo, but you can see what it looks like against the ceiling white.

"According to Wright's theory, blue stimulates the mind, yellow inspires creativity, red affects your body and green creates a calming balance. But just choosing a color isn't enough. This may be useful depending on what type of work you do. Personally, I wouldn't want a bright colour to distract me. Its funny but I am liking the darker shades more and more. Always used to go for pastels but my tastes are evolving! The matchcards in your earlier pic, on the table, seem to be much lighter than the later pic with the fabric, not sure why. The middle colour, Paradise Found, seems to match the flower in the fabric very well so it would work. But I must be honest I love the two greeny blues more. They are very similar to Inchyra Blue by F&B. Would you go all over? I think with white shutters and white woodwork it would look stunning. Here’s a pic of Inchyra Blue so you can see how similar it is, but a little darker?

Plaster pink sounds perfect. I would try samples from Little Greene as their paint is really good quality. Although this is a bathroom and polished plaster, you can see what a good colour it is. Little Greene also give the LRV of paint meaning that you know how much light will be reflected so if you like the tone but don't like a colour you can select another colour with the same LRV. Paint and Paper Library do one called Desert Rose which looks good.

Yellow is sunny and is said to inspire brain activity. It is certainly to be avoided for bedrooms because it is too stimulating when people want to sleep. So - possibly a good idea for a work space underground?
Certainly go for lighter rather than darker - if you are needing to concentrate you don't want your surroundings too soporific!

Thanks all. I think you’re all right re lighter tones. My builders doing a mist coat today and already feels brighter. I am vering towards plaster pink with warm wood colours and some greenery, but yellows an interesting one I hadn’t thought of.
I’m a fan of Little Greene so will look at their options.
I do love the industrial look but think it will be too harsh down here.
