can I ask where you got your sliding doors room?

There are one or two very well known suppliers of sliding and bi-fold door but I’ve seen lots of bad reviews in them. Looking for a quality supplier with good customer service.

The doors are from a company that has now ceased trading. We did not have a great experience with the company and I would have not recommended them. Sorry I can’t help any further. Best, FPArchitects

Salve Cosmin! Your doors look great and I'm sure lots of people would love to have them. However, my experience with a similar company was unpleasant, and I hope you operate differently. We wanted glass for the pocket door in our kitchen (see below), unfortunately the builder was unsure if he'd be able to find someone to install it, so we only ordered the sliding kit. After the frame was put in, we got back to them saying "OK, we would like the glass door now", they said they only sell the whole thing together (kit and glass door) and when we insisted, the offered us something like £20 less only for the glass door. Obviously, we said no and just bought a four panel. A few months later, the sliding kit for a different door (downstairs loo) got broken; we called them but they brushed us off saying it was probably an installation fault and they can't help. As I said, I hope you operate differently, because we would never again buy from that company or recommend it to someone else.

I've always gone with hinged doors since I scared my clothes could get snagged on the runners (I'm probably being over cautious) and I like to be able to see all my clothes at once so I can figure out an outfit.

Hello. Congratulations on buying your apartment. You should think very carefully about what you do to your studio, since it is the space where you will live, breath and sleep. Before you make any specific decisions, put together a mood board so you can focus on the complete look. . Look at the colour and texture of the things you aren't going to change, like the sofa and, I guess, the floor? Then gather images of the things you want to change, and play around with colour, taking inspiration from your moodboard. This is fun, and will give you a good idea of how your room with feel and look. Good luck. Oh, and please be very wary of a bank of mirrored wardrobes - you will catch your reflection every time you make the slightest move in your space. Cathy, Cathy Phillips & Co.

Hi Adam, we also looked at both sliding doors and slide and turn for our opening and were shocked at the price of the slide and turns. One thing that a few designers and window providers said to us was that essentially slide and turn doors (or bifold doors) look better when they are open, and sliding doors look better when they are closed (as they tend to have fewer panels and so less view is blocked by pane). As we are based in London, where for most of the year the doors will be closed, we were advised by everyone to go with sliding doors. (NB our opening is wider, so it was a difference between 3 sliding door panels or 6/7 slide and turn panels).
