Lighting over Island and Dining Table?!

Having issues deciding on where to place lighting in my kitchen, the kitchen lays on the left of the wall with the dining area on the right. How can I use lighting as they are primarily close? I am unsure if I should priorities the dining table or island for the big lighting or if/how I can incorporate the two to have key lightening, without looking cluttered/odd as they lay parallel to each other.

some times, where to put lighting points on the ceiling or any where else , can be hard and confusing, especially if the room is small,and if you want different lighting circuits

I would personally have spots on the ceiling, 100 mm away from the edge of the worktop from the ceiling spaced between the each lights at 800 mm / 1000 mm so the light is projecting directly on to the worktop or if there is not any wall mounted cupboards , the lights got to be dead centre of the worktop

above the island i would just have 1 point for a pendent light suspended down from the ceiling , from the top of the worktop surface to the bottom of light fitting i would suspend the fitting of about 700mm /690mm the lowest

Hi

depending how big is your kitchen you might just consider under counter lights for kitchen and having some pendant lights in the center of kitchen or above the dining table.the safest thing would be just to go for spotlights

Roof light over Dining table - as you need good task lighting over your cabinets and worktops - which can be tricky to span over a roof light - people at table can look up to the starry sky or sit bathed in sunshine ! ( if it's a nice day !) and eat by candlelight !!!

I'd say depends on the size of the pendant. If you're going for the smaller end of the market - a lot average out at around 22cm across, then you could get three in that would be roughly from edge to edge - gap 28cm - light 22cm - gap 29cm -light 22cm - gap 29cm - light 22cm and finally gap 28cm If you fancy something bigger than 22cm then i'd probably stick to two lights - after all you don't want to be too close to peoples heads - This one is based on 35cm shades - Gap 37cm - light 35cm - gap 36cm - light 35cm - gap 37cm

It really depends on how high your ceilings are and the type of look you are going for. Will they make a statement or are they purely functional? I'd usually go for pendants with fixed shades because I'm usually committing to a style and I've chosen something I truly love. However, you can get some beautiful glass shades from places like made.com . Industrial style pendants from https://www.industville.co.uk/collections/ceiling-lights-lampshades Or something elegant from https://idyllhome.co.uk/collections/pendant-light - I hope this helps.

We agree with Bespoke Interiors Redbridge, that's exactly what we were about to suggest too. Spot lighting and a focal pendant for the dining area. That would look great :)

you could have feature pendants over the dining table and the island and have them on separate circuits so they don't have to be used at the same time. glass pendants won't make the space feel cluttered but you could opt for different size/shape of the same light for the different areas so its similar but defines the two areas
