Design Dilemma Living Rooms Paint

feature colour on chimney breast thruway to dining room.

could someone please advice if i should bring this feature colour through to the dining room back wall as well?
also im not sure weather to paint the entire chimney breast wall side and back.

I'm thinking i probably shouldn't have painted the entire squared archway

hopefully photos will help explain.

I did this in my through living room / diner. Wasn't sure before I did it, but it really ties the room(s) together. I've got the colour on the chimney breast in the living room and the back wall of the dining area, so adjacent to each other. Similar, or maybe even the same colour as yours too.

What a lovely colour! It could look great to have the same colour, or alternatively, why not see what other colours are in the palette with this one? Something slightly different to compliment this colour? Best of luck with whatever you end up choosing :)

I found the Dulux Visualator, or whatever it’s called, to be pretty useless. I used it once to visualise my old sitting room colour just to see how accurate it was. My walls were Dulux Elderflower so compared it on the Dulux online thingy and it was completely different!

Lovely neutral room so a different wall colour would look good. I don’t know what shades you love (or hate!) so I’ll just suggest some shades that I think would look good. Sage green, or any green, would look good with your sofas and floor. I also think warm caramel shades would also look good. Blue looks good with cream, although some shades can be cold in north facing rooms. Is your room sunny? Navy is lovely too, but not for everyone. Here’s some pics:

E D I have currently downed tools to assess what i think. lol decisions are not my strong point. I am very much still open for suggestions and tips, especially seeing pictures of the same sort of room layout. help greatly appreciated

I know how you feel. Decisions, decisions. :)

Why not just give the back wall a go in the same colour? It's not a massive job and I feel it would create a more unified and finished look.

If the result isn't what you hoped for, you can always re-paint. But I doubt you will have to do that.

This was from when we decorated (it was on my phone). It's full of stuff now, will take a better photo when I get home.

If it were me I’d paint around the side of the wall (the whole arch) the bit you have circled in peach? I’d leave the back wall, I think it will take away from your feature wall, possible go around the back and creat a feature on the wall seen with the light switch (first pic I think) so you will actually have a feature wall opposite to the one you originally asked about painting.

Id also paint your sunroom, the peach isn’t working with what your doing the the living room.

Just to add, please don’t take offence, that’s a great colour but I think the colour of your wooden furniture is going to clash with it and I paint your skirting on the feature wall the same colour as the wall, same with the other walls, match the skirting with them, floor you’ll prolly get away with that way.

As said, just my take on it :-)

makes perfect sense Anthony. Thats what i was thinking originally. the full arch back and front. the furniture will in time be upcycled so the colour will change on table etc.

I'm not happy about the white I've chosen. its too warm. wanted to use dulux easy care as i have a 4 year old. Picked ochre white and its been a nightmare to apply. totally blotchy.

excuse the mess...still another coat to be applied.

Behind the glass doors is all windows so no peach...maybe you are seeing the ceiling which is wood. that hopefully will be knocked down and rebuilt in time to come.

Hi again

I was in the same as far as paint goes, I’ve went for pure brill white easy care by delux, I like delux paint tbh, goes on well and no issues, the easy care really is pretty tuff, I always add colour with either a feature wall or the furniture, tbh a pure white room is a hard thing to pull off! I found a great grey by crown, don’t generally like crown but thought I’d give it a go as it was on offer,it’s stunning and very hard wearing, I actually went and bought 3 more tins as it was being discontinued! If I was you I’d prob go white and add colour with some nice pictures and accessories or furniture, ps, this is just from my viewpoint, paint is so hard to navigate, I’ve got crown for the feature wall in the new livingroom scheme and f&b for the wall, door and skirting

I made a decision. done. well except for few tidy up cut ins. but at least walls are painted. i can start furnishing now...and do every other room in the house

Absolutely delighted. The back wall made it. It lost all its impact with the wrong white, too warm, but when I painted the dining room wall I was delighted and can live with the white
