Looks to me to be a standard Olive tree. Hopefully you will get a response from the landscaper.

Hi, If you use an iPad you could download the free Dulux Visualizer app to look at different colours - it's quick and easy (but lighting conditions have to be good) For a cost effective transformation I would have to agree with you and most of the comments by painting the Front door, garage doors and windows of the house. (Use a good primer/undercoat like Zinsser external - shellac or oil based) I would advise all matching colours for a uniform country home feel. The olive green or light green looks nice. For the driveway you could go resin bound which is available in a variety of colours now and lasts much longer than Tarmac with far greater osmosis. Again adding the private home country estate feel at a reasonable price. Rendering comes in various colours (although it is costly) if within your budget will totally transform the look and feel adding to the thermal insulation. And most definitely some easy care, low maintenance plants and planters... You don't have to spend mega bucks! Although probably a good time for discounted evergreens? Good luck Edward eDECO

Hi Dynamo, I'm responsible for the design in your photo and delighted you like the look of this room. You would only need a few square meters of the split mosaic tiles which are available of sheets, so not expensive for a striking feature. Also, easy to keep free of dust with a quick once over with a dust pan brush, or brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner . WC's are often overlooked but when you consider its a room you use every day and your guests use too, why not make it an enjoyable experience! An alternative and very inexpensive idea for your walls and my signature in practically every home I renovate, is installing 6mm MDF panelling with a 10mm shadow gap in between each panel, apply with Pink Gripfil adhesive. 600mm x 600mm square or horizontal panels of any height add a sense of depth and soul to boring flat, painted walls. A sheet of MDF is cheap as chips, just make sure you prime and undercoat thoroughly with a mini roller before applying eggshell finish or acrylic paint. It's not a main bathroom so not susceptible to humidity, therefore emulsion paint in a contrast shade will work well too. I think Photinia would get too large and unruly for planters on top of the walls. They need managing otherwise they get very large and have a very loose form. Personally I'd opt for something that is more consistent in form and shape without too much upkeep and provides an attractive green backdrop to your beautiful house rather than competing with it for attention! Something like Buxus or Japanese box (Euonymus Green Rocket) as alternative to avoid issues with Box blight. Alternatively Privet is a good reliable evergreen hedger particular well suited to urban situations as they tolerate pollution. Either way its worth adding some water retaining granules and slow release fertiliser to the soils to give them a boost. At least you're planting at a good time to avoid stressing them in the dry summer months. Good luck!

Thank you - it’s already been dug out and I’ve added a mix of crazy paving down the centre with a large pot in the middle (with a cordyline in) and plum slate chippings for now. I’m really hoping that any bluebells can’t get through the 2 layers of heavy duty weed barrier and the stones, ha ha. If they do then I can just pull the sheets back and remove them. Yes there is a budlea by the canopy and I keep trimming it down so it stays fairly short for now until I find an alternative plant to put there that’s not so tall and likes sun (evergreen preferably) The left side with the large cordyline (seems to be dying off - is this normal in autumn??) has had a good clear out and I’ve also planted a palm and red cordyline type bush along with some other tropical feeling evergreens. Seemed a shame to remove it right now.
