Office space vs access (to wires&pipes!!)
Comments (36)Hello again!! Just short of 2 years later, my den is finally finished and looks pretty much like how I've envisaged it. Few months ago, I was extremely lucky to meet this carpenter who is really good and doesn't mind building my 'designs' :)) and we got to work. After finishing the hall and main bedroom (http://www.houzz.co.uk/projects/723044/hall / [https://www.houzz.co.uk/discussions/colour-for-unit-top-dsvw-vd~2977620[(https://www.houzz.co.uk/discussions/colour-for-unit-top-dsvw-vd~2977620)) we finally started on my den. As you'll notice, in planning the space, I've used a mixture of your ideas above: it has a secret door, a (folding) desk, it's a bit of an art gallery and has a few other surprises! The initial plan had to be altered to accommodate my new hobby :)). Almost one year ago, I had this mad idea to start painting (on) glass and then to make silly clay figurines, so I adapted the space to suit my pursuits (like the slightly tilted shelves for paints, peg board for scissors, top shelf for expo, etc). Plus, you can't really tell which of the panels are in fact secrets doors!! As for the rest, I bought a rubber mat to protect the oak floor and I'm using a trolley for the rest of the materials, so it can easily be moved out the way in case we need access to the back. Carpenter insisted on the LEDs, I'm not that keen on them. So, ignoring the arty-farty clutter, what do you think of my space?...See MoreWhat is the functionality of sketch?
Comments (1)Hi there @duggiedog, Sketch allows you to annotate on, add products, stickers and measurements to photos on Houzz. You can choose to create a Sketch with a photo already on Houzz, a photo you have taken or have in your library of your device, or a preset background called a 'canvas'. This means you can use Sketch for a variety of purposes. You can show a friend, professional or colleague exactly what you like/dislike/want to change or add to an existing photo on Houzz. You can take a photo of a room and virtually add products and notes to it to plan how you might change it. You can create floorplans using the canvases and stickers loaded into Sketch if you are designing a room or house. Finally, you can create moodboards and room mock-ups using the canvases to help you decide on colours, styles, themes and products for a renovation or decoration project you are planning. Comments (15)Hi All! Many thanks for your help. Cariad Home Styling it was my first thought, but the bedroom door leand to a very nice hall, and from the hall you would only see the wardrobe side, which would look quite ugly. I suppose I could add a piece of victorian furniture in that end (something small and lovely).. I'll give it a try. Thanks! whirlligig the problem with this idea is that I have a beautiful cornice work, and floor to ceiling wardrobe will hide this feature! I cannot copy this cornice and add it to the wardrobe in the ceiling end, because they are not conventional... :( Feioi yes you are right. At the moment I just have the bed, but I'd like to add some french touches and if possible, put something like this: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5OaeCWyWWM0/Uydsfjk4a_I/AAAAAAAAPVM/rJQRtfAIeG4/s1600/ASCP+french+linen+drawers+Lilyfield+Life-001.JPG in front of the bed and the TV on top of it. It's hard to mix contemporary styles and traditional ones. Very tricky! I could take a look and see how it looks with the bed opposite to the current wall, But I'm not sure it will be ok given that the door leading to the bedroom goes directly to the entrance hal... All Cabinets Ltd i Don't really know what the options would be in regards with bespoke furniture. Do you have something I could use as guide? Cheers!...See MoreAre Ikea PAX really 'fitted wardrobes'? Recommendations please...
Comments (22)Bespoke joinery is always better to achieve maximum of storage from space you got. However with PAX there is option to match up for saving cost, however you are limited to size, if you got 190cm you need to fit 150cm and have covering panels. We did in few houses to get lower cost build in units, that we put it in PAX wardrobes and we made bespoke side panels and framing, skirting so when you close them it looks like bespoke, where inside is still IKEA....See MoreNovita Furniture Collection
