Hi Maria and all Thank you so, so much for your advice. The arm covers are only ever intended to be temporary - something to keep kitty claws from ripping holes in everything. I would like off-white cotton/linen with lace. There needs to be something on the arms, so it might as well be a 'period' look. Now, although this isn't strictly design, but I decided to get rid on my modern phone and replace it with a period, retro GPO phone. See photo. I'm the very first person to put my hand up, when it comes to clutter! So, I hope I haven't overdone it with the phone. Incidentally, I'm still no closer to covering the sofa. I've decided I truly do need seat cushion covers, once again, because of my pets. It would certainly be a cheaper alternative to just use scatter cushions, but I couldn't get away with just that, and still the seats would have no protection. It's so difficult to choose the right colour. It needs to: a) go well with the opposite green wall, and b) work well with the rug (which I adore, and simply couldn't lose). [deep sigh] :)

Speckled mirrors sound really nice and those little walls either side of the sofa face sliding doors to the garden, so mirrors there would reflect the sunlight back into the room, probably need that as I have a charcoal coloured carpet as well as black sofas. The other thing I thought of for those walls was maybe a pair of sconces for tea lights, I do like candles, as you would realise if you saw the inside of my wardrobes! (Hardly any clothes, loads of candles, gorgeous smell!) xxx

Do you know how tall the armrests are? You want a table that's not much lower or taller. I think a round(ish) table suits well. I like Sonia's table and the whiskey barrel stool. But if you have the height of the armrests, we might be able to help you find some more options, if you like.
