How to dress bow/bay window with Curtains and Blinds
Any ideas on how best to dress this window with curtains and blinds? I want curtains just to dress the sides, and not necessarily to be drawn but as the window is ceiling high cannot attach a curtain pole across. Cannot put a pole around the bay/bow as the windowsill stands out further than where curtains would drop. Blinds are important for privacy but dont necessarily need to cover the top windows in each panel! And Because of the angle of the panels I could be limited to the type of brackets available.
Not sure which type of blinds would be best, Roman, Venetian or roller? dont fancy shutters as they block too much light and not keen on vertical blinds (rather dated!) Any advice welcome.

Comments (20)That many blinds would be a pain to open and close on a daily basis. You'd likely end up leaving some of them closed permanently which would cut the light enormously. Consider curtains that hang from the flat wall above the archway, in front of the whole bay window. When open they could hang on either side of the opening, meaning no loss of light. Comments (2)You will get light coming through with any blinds at the edges where they meet. Maybe you could change to shutters? I still think you'll get a little diffused light through those. If you don't want the expense of the shutters and or still want to go for black out curtains, then have them sill length and pull them round the bay....See MoreHelp with Bow window dressing please

Well we haven't actually exchanged on our own sale yet (3 months!) and we gave up waiting so completed early on our purchase so we can get in and make it a bit more homely before we move in, ha ha. Fingers crossed for yours - it's awful at this time. No one wants to move just before Xmas Not thought about those temporary ones. We aren't living there for a few weeks luckily so thought if I get the sorted asap, I wouldn't need anything up. Shutters are a classic, timeless look that goes well with various interiors. I found a few client photos with windows similar to yours.
We had another client who opted for a boxed pelmet with pinch pleate curtains which could work with your window. It creates a very clean and elegnt look. Plus voiles for extra privacy but still allows light in.
Similar but with a voile curtain
To save on costs you can forgo the pelemt box, pinch pleats or eyelets look stylish as is.

5 years agoHow about something like this? A bendy track for curtains and a fitted bench with backrest (or many pillows) that does up to windowsill height. Two floor length curtain panels at the sides and two short ones that sit on top of the windowsill in the middle. Underneath the curtains you could have voile panels or simple white blinds. Happy choosing!
