My raised terrace or balcony dilemma. Connecting house to the garden
Comments (42)Hi original poster! I know it’s 7 years since you asked this but would love to know what you did. We are not in a similar position with a similar looking house at the back but even steeper. I know that a full extension and lowering the internal floors would be ideal but we can’t afford that and need a 5-7 year fix. Please let us know what you decided and why ☺️...See MoreShare your design dilemma and win Dulux paint!
Comments (629)Hi Andrea Brooks We can totally understand your dilemma - ‘Magnolia’ is certainly not for everyone! Different colours can evoke different moods and feelings, so don’t limit yourself to one colour throughout your whole house. Dark moody tones work brilliantly in bedrooms, and have been proven to help induce better sleep. Our favourite at the moment is Dulux’s Denim Drift. Bright, fresh colours are great for kitchens, and for creating a lively happy atmosphere. I love Dulux Coral Canyon which is really uplifting. Finally, dusted blues and greens have amazing calming qualities, and are fantastic for any rooms you want to relax and unwind in. Dulux Dusted Moss is a beautiful, versatile colour that will suit most styles of property, either traditional or modern. If you are cautious about using colour, why not introduce it slowly through your accessories, or as a feature wall, as these can be easily updated and replaced. Good luck and we would love to see the results. Hannah Dulux Amazing Space www.designer.duluxamazingspace.co.uk...See MoreImprove ground floor layout - Victorian House
Comments (20)Just a thought! For your first floor if you wanted to then it looks like there might be potential to create a more central bathroom on the landing and make the current bathroom, or part of it, into an ensuite for the back bedroom (number 3 on the plan). Not sure if a bedroom with ensuite and an extra bathroom is something you'd like to have, but it looks like this might be an option. Useful if you want a guest bedroom with an ensuite, or have teenage children who spend ages in the bathroom! I imagine you have the front bedroom as the masterbedroom, and it doesn't look so possible to create an ensuite for that room without taking space off the bedroom. Might be something worth considering. Having an ensuite is the second most frequently requested alteration that I get asked for. It would be worth asking your estate agent if doing this would improve the potential resale value of your home - if this is something you're interested in....See MoreInternal Layout Dilemma (Open or Closed Plan Layout)
Comments (12)Thanks guys for your input, great to have multiple opinions. I have been convinced the flexibility of closing off the main living room with a sliding door would be valued in the long run. Rear of house will be south west facing, (North Hem). The sunroom (room8) will serve mostly as second living room/Playroom down the line so yes flexibility wins. Gabby great job on the renovation, how wide did you go on the sliding doors. OnePlan, yes i do agree with you by pushing the sunroom further back. We have a ensuite over the sunroom serving a master bedroom initially over the living room. Master bedroom now at the rear so shouldn't be problem. Link to 3d View. https://home.by.me/en/project/blazeajb/fireplace Sunroom pushed back. Upstairs. (Bed to be moved to moving sunroom back) Note site was purchased with an initial design which didn't take advantage of the orientation, very little windows at rear. Without having to submit for major design changes, trying to tweek here any there. Back ground images in above would be our first revision. Any further tips with better use of space appreciated....See MoreField & Co Interior Design Ltd
