Exterior styling of 1970s house (windows and doors)
Comments (8)Hi Greg, I think the windows definitely need to change. Casement does seem like a good option as it gives you more glass and are affordable. You could go for some powder coated aluminium to match the garage? but this is a much higher price. The door is a nice touch and I personally like them but it really depends on the style you are going for with your interiors (and exteriors) and whether this is in keeping with that. Is it something you need? and if not.. will it really support the style you are going for? I think it is hard to give too much advise because I don't really know what you are trying to achieve at this point. If you are having trouble visualising your space, I offer a great 3D package will give you a chance to see what different options will look like before you make any costly purchases. Please feel free to email gina.everett@createperfect.co.uk for more details. All the best, Gina...See MoreHelp with Windows and Front Door needed
Comments (29)Hi Minnie thank you for the help darling, yes we will mirror the right side porch brick column then split the as rest sidelights. Nice and centered for my symmetry obsessed brain. I think I know what you mean about the horizontal bars, especially as they would have to work with the panels in the doors and I can't really see how that would work. I am still fighting with the idea of plain glass though, not sure how I could get to see some modern clear glass leaded panels?? I have this strong gut feeling that adding a bit of detail to the panels will make the whole entrance feel nicer. Colour wise I think would rather have a little contrast especially as we have the garage door as well, but I'm not feeling the stronger colours. I am considering light blue from farrow and ball, too safe????...See MoreI'd like opinions on these two possible plans please?
Comments (11)I agree with Carolina, Option 1 makes the snug unusable. So option 2. There are no real dimensions on the plan, however, when you use the scale at the bottom, ( even though the picture kind of goes away from you making it less to scale as it goes up ) the snug area is small. There's a picture of a 3 seater sofa, which i doubt is to scale, as its smaller than the island. I'm hazarding a guess that the sofa in the pic is around 1.5 m ( so not to scale ). I hear what you're saying about 4 bathrooms. The 2 rooms upstairs are good they share a well proportioned bathroom. However, I dislike the shower room for 2 bedrooms downstairs. With this configuration you have no En-Suites, which is a shame with all that work. It's too hard to re-configure with no dimensions, but I feel that there is a better version for the plan with regards the snug and the bedroom bathroom idea downstairs. Which room is to be the Master? I think i'd be aiming for the master downstairs bottom right with an En-suite. The shower room downstairs for everyday use and for the use of bedroom 2 and then the upstairs for guests / others with the shared use of the 1 bathroom....See Moreanthracite grey windows on old house - ADVICE PLEASE
Comments (12)Hi Maja Anthracite grey is a wonderful colour, and probably the most popular on all our products at the moment! They look amazing on houses, although sometimes the brick colour or rendering can mean they may be too dark or perhaps need less contrast, so they may not be right for everybody. A recent customer's house had a visible dark roof, so anthracite grey was a bit too much, and they chose a pale grey instead... I think your brick colour is lovely and pale so will contrast very nicely and will look amazing with anthracite grey - especially in the sunshine! Finished with a timber effect foil, you will hardly notice the difference between uPVC and original timber - except you will be getting all the benefits of a modern maintenance free window. You may want to look at a Solidor Composite Front Door to further enhance the look, security and low maintence qualities to the doors and windows of your home....See MoreEmily
