Comments (14)That's a pain it didn't respond using the whole of my text haha! We were going to use Cole and Son whimsical in hall but it's too small I think. I love the idea of painting the radiator in the hall though!!!! Not sure what colour to paint hall in general though - I have this feeling everywhere will be grey in the house at this rate haha! Ordered a blind from next in a neutral colour so hopefully can get some ideas soon :)We have a cream mirror for in the living room behind the sofa which is going up once I replace the glass my boyfriend broke. Should we be looking at wallpapering both walls? I'm at a loss! We are going to use pictures going up the stairs similar to the photos/ art on my last post (only 2 though). The stairs are in my living room though rather than in the hall. My plan is to move the sofa under the window to under the stairs, push the new TV stand into the corner but flat against the wall and put the coffee table in the centre of the room. I'm thinking I may use the whimsical wallpaper on the landing (and buy a radiator cabinet) and stick a mirror above??? The whimsical wallpaper to decide from is out of these 2:...See MoreBeta Testers Wanted for a Home Design Course
Comments (5)I'm really sorry that you feel like that, Daisy. As far I know, the idea of this website is for people to get ideas, advice, inspiration, and to learn about interior design and home decor. I contribute to Houzz by giving advice to others too. The course I have developed aims to help with the sorts of problems that members of Houzz experience, and that I see on the advice boards regularly. It is therefore highly relevant to the audience here. I value greatly the quality of advice that I give out to others, and this is why I am looking for exactly the sort of people who come to Houzz, to help me to test my course. I would hate to offer an untested product to people, and that is why I am asking people to beta test my course: to make sure that it meets their needs and is genuinely useful. I have had a lot of people apply to be a beta tester already, and so I know that there are many people out there who will see this as a great opportunity. I am not asking for any money, just people's time and feedback for what I hope will become very helpful training for people in the future. I'm sorry that you've taken offence to this....See Moredesign help for our new home
Comments (21)For 40k choose downstairs and don't touch upstairs, you haven't the budget to amend both and definitely not a roof. Maybe start with something like this, it's the easiest layout to attain:- The one below involves taking out the Fireplace, but leaves you entering straight in to the kitchen and with a Utility off the kitchen, which is better all round. As Jonathan says if and when you have more funds add a garage if you want one....See MoreNew house has long living room, need help with layout and design.
Comments (10)Hello! Wow! Thank you very much for your advice. So, there is a radiator on the right hand wall. That is where current owners put their tv. Not sure it will fit, will measure up soon hopefully. The TV could go on a smaller unit to be honest, and will make sure radiator is turned down! Just worried that there isn't enough room for a corner sofa there with the door to the hallway..(see photos on rightmove) I LOVE the idea of large mirrors either side of fireplace. Pinching that! ;) My current living room is decorated in shades of greys and lots of gold. Thinking of going navy and gold but not too sure. Sofa colours argh! Huge thanks I'm very grateful.
