How can I make this more cosy!?
Comments (22)You need warm tones and a mixture of textures. Persoanally, I would have a large fluffy rug by the sofa and drape throws on the sofa to soften the edges. I am sure the landlord would want you to make the property comfortable. After all, a happy tenant is more likely to look after the place. Also, have you considered buying some large wicker trunks for the little ones toys. If you stack them they will look nice and protect the windows. Also, being trunks, they will look nice from both the hall and the living room area...See MoreHow can I make our bland 1970's exterior more appealing?!
Comments (12)It all comes down to budget as always. The bigger the budge the more you can do. I would be really mindful of the fact, that if you change the facade, it would be better if you could change the windows. The wood cladding I agree would look fabulous, you could have the bottom a lovely grey to tone in. However, neither will look good with bog standard white windows, as both look better with a dark grey, thinner Aluminium Frame or a Chunkier Sandy Beige Frame. When you add white windows, the effect is not quite so slick The pic above shows the white windows with the cladding and it would look a lot better with the darker, thinner frames. If you can't afford to change or colour bond the windows, then maybe go for all over colour, a dark grey would be good, and consider changing the Front door for impact. Alternatively, work towards doing the ultimate change. The vertical wood cladding, with a grey underneath and a door to match the wood. Thinner dark pewter aluminium framed windows etc. sorry about the mock up quality!...See MoreHow to make the outside of a house look more attractive
Comments (11)I think lightening up the top part of the house and adding planting would look good too - I also think you should darken the paving at the front to a couple of shades darker than the roof to anchor the house to the ground and stop making it look so top heavy. I would also add a brightly coloured door to lead the eye downwards instead of up towards the roof, as well as adding plants and other bits of interest in the front garden will help draw the eye there instead of up towards the proportionately large roof space...See MoreHow to improve the exterior look of our 70's bungalow
Comments (4)I saw these pics and thought of this post. They do show that getting the right palate can completely change the feel. I also liked that both of these has added some covered outside space. Don’t forget that any external remodelling will require planning permission. There are also architects who specialise in exterior remodelling...See MoreJonathan
