I think curtains similar to the previous owner would work if you keep the colour or background colour close to the wall colour. It's hard to find pictures of a bay with a lowered ceiling without shutters etc but you could also have a pelmet and curtains on the main wall outside the bay or have curtains on the main wall maybe with romans on the window. If you take the curtains higher than the bay ceiling it will make the windows appear visually taller. There are lots of rooms with the coffee table much further away however as you actually want to use the tables for tea etc you may want to keep the 45cm gap but have wider coffee tables. My table is 44cm away (to be precise!) and I couldn't reach much past that comfortably TBH. I would try it! I've just attached 2 pics showing the sofas overlapping the chimney breast and not to see what you think. The chairs in the bay will be fine if the main seating area is zoned with a rug. I've seen your other posts re David Linley, his silhouette chair is rather lovely!

You are all amazing! This is really helping our thinking process. We have considered banquette seating and certainly a bench, at times we might need to squash family around the table. Thinking extra storage underneath it. The peninsula isn't feeling so bad, Minnie the pictures are great. Like the shelving in the corner and can still have a run of tall cupboards. Manabout, wondering if the island is going to look too big in the center. Feel a bit scared a repeating my friend's mistake! The room that is going to be the kitchen has to have walls removed to make one room but i can plot this out in the first floor living room, newspaper on the floor, just to try it out. Worrying a little about the table position, how that would feel if it isn't centered on the doors. I am quite 'symmetrical' and 'matchy matchy' when I organize and plan. Finding the new eclectic styling (which I do love) a bit of a struggle! Consensus is definitely the 'kitchen' in that end of the room, rather than the bigger space currently planned for dining?

Thanks minie, yeah I’m pleased with this one too - the app didn’t have an option for a tall unit with just a single oven, so I had to make do with what they had, but yes, we would just have a single oven in one and the other would have a combo micro/oven and warming drawer so it would all line up. And I just shoved a few things on the shelves without really thinking, but yes the open shelving would look neater than that! I’m also considering whether to have the breakfast bar and the units on the opposite island of the hob to be higher units so it is about 18cm higher than the hob. That way could potentially have the breakfast bar directly opposite the hob, although the higher units would have to be 300 deep which means people sitting even nearer the hob, albeit higher up - I’m not sure if the hob would still pose a risk in this case with fat splashes etc?

Slightly adjust your design. 1. Move the entire island outward. You'd still need to be able to safely pass the openend DW, even though in reality the dishwasher is mostly closed.. Aisle 90cm is a minimum without appliances, but with them go for 120cm. My guess is cabinet 3 is 100cm? If so, please place the oven in the tall cabinets and have drawers under the hob (looks nicer too). 2. Switch 5 and 7 and with other cabinet widths you can still have your sink centered in front of the window. DW is still next to the sink (I find that very practical) and closer to the uppers (nice for unloading), but not entirely in the corner (place to stand). Below the same sink cabinet, but a smaller corner cabinet (50cm door instead of 60?). And here 4x60cm doors (would be my preference, plus all appliances integrated) and the few cms you need to center the sink are in the corner cabinet's offset.
