Hey, im going to buy a flat in the new building. I can choose the setup of a bathroom. I got some visualisation, so i will looking forward your opinions, tips or reviews. I want to buy colorful interior stuff.

You might find that it would be good to have some storage - this lootility room we did recently had two options - first one was with small amount of storage - think washing liquid/conditioner/unstoppables etc

Giving much more storage for all laundry bits and your spare loo roll and tooth brushes and all the personal stuff you want in your bathroom ... maybe consider more along these lines - as looks less like someone dropped a washing machine in your bathroom !

Nb - these links take you to a panoramic - open on a smart phone or tablet and they move around the room with you as you look at he space you are transforming ! It’s what we proving on our A and B design service.

I think I would have the third one down, out of the ones you've pictured, but I'd have the wall opposite the mirror lighter grey as well. I think too much dark grey in that small space will quickly look gloomy.

Is there anything else you wanted comments on or just tile colour?

Is there any natural light, or is it enitrely without windows (as mock-ups suggest). It's very cool and chic but somehow suffocating, almost mausoleum-like. (Though this may be an effect of the CAD presentation...) I'd be tempted to paint the door turqouise -néon just to get a breather! Mirror on the longer wall to double the narrowest width (second picture) does help. Are the pictures 'options' given by the new-build company, or is there a rough shell in which you can do anything?

Hi Glen, The size and shape of your space is not dissimilar to many we refurbish, and you do have pleant of options. As "bubbles" suggests, Mereway, Trend (and many others) offer ranges of standalone and built in furniture which would be ideal for your needs. Do you have a budget in mind? If so, to have some insight into that would help to advise on how to get most bang for your buck. To give an idea of what I would recommend: - Remove existing suite and radiator. -Remove existing tiling, re-plasterboard and skim -Install a "Square P" (sometimes called L shape) bath of 850 x 1700, wide end at door end of room with new screen and shower. At "window end", box in from end of bath to wall, possibly with an open shelf unit above -replace flooring with either a good quality vinyl, palio-click or tile flooring -at window end of bathroom, install 600 wide vanity unit with rectangular basin on top on the left (next to boxed in section) with a "concealed cistern" and back to wall WC to the right of that, filled to the boxed in section on the right - see image below (sorry it is small and grainy) -fit a mirrored wall storage unit on the right hand wall above a modern, chrome towel rail/warmer Wrt tiling - I would be tempted to only tile in the bath "corner" with a small splashback of tiles behind the run of furniture along the window wall Colours and finish are always very personal, but I would be tempted by walnut and white with quite square fixtures & fittings (taps, showerhead, radiator etc.) to complement the clean lines of the furniture and bathroom. If you wanted me to "mock up" the above ideas in CAD, I'd be happy to do so free of charge over the weekend (a quick task!), and we could give you a feel for costs. Update -- my plumber finally returned. Not sure what he did while here, but he told me again it wasn't working -- then he did some work on a radiator which had a small leak. We were having a long discussion about options on pumps, new showers, taps etc and I read out the installation guide and he tried it again, and suddenly it worked. It is bizarre as I don't know how many times i tried it previously. My friend who works in construction ALSO called earlier today and tried it several times to no avail. It must have been extremely stiff or perhaps the plumber realised some airlock whilst fixing the radiator since I think water pressure is much stronger since he went. Thanks for everyones help -- i learned lots on plumbing and a valuable lesson to take out the installation manuals myself and not trust that trades men know everything!!! I feel like celebrating!!

I think if you are going to put a shower over the bath you need to consider where you might put a screen.

Personally I wouldn’t put a wood top next to the bath as it won’t look good for very long.

I might reconsider the concealed cistern wc as I think it makes a long thin room look narrower and causes issues with putting up a shower screen. Perhaps having a wider room would be better.

I notice there is no planned storage in this room which seems like an oversight.

I think the dark colours look great. I think people’s instinct is to decorate rooms with no natural light in white but it doesn’t work, it makes rooms dingy. I would however consider additional lighting. The ceiling light will be great for tasks such as shaving but I think you will also need softer lighting for relaxing in the bath or visiting the bathroom in the middle of the night. Consider a spotlight inset into the floor with an amber bulb for atmosphere (or a blue bulb which is supposed to not wake you too much if you use the bathroom in the middle of the night).

Lalitte Stolper : its entirely without natural light. Yes, i feel it also that the colors are missing. I tried some visualization with neon or red color but it wasnt looking good...maybe i will not use the lining on one side to ceiling, and just paint the wall and ceiling with cheerful color. what do you think ?

I can choose lining on myself. The developer determine the "standard lining" in catalog. When i choose all the lining from catalog, the costs are included in buying price. By other lining will i need to pay the difference between "standard" lining and selected ones.

OnePlan : thank you for your tips. I will surely ask if its possible to put the washing machine under the sink. I planned, to use some storage under the sink or over the washing machine. I will rethink that.

Jonathan : about the wood i have same thoughts , but it changed the bathroom really nice. The wood wont be in the shower, just under the mirror.

mayfly182 : i post the photo. you think something like this ?

The antracite / dark gray its without additional expenses, because its part of "standard". Under is the screenshot from developers catalog.

STANDARD - with no additional expenses.

PREMIUM. Its just recommendation from developer, the difference must be payed.

That is nearly what I meant but I think the whole of the right wall should be darker (though the top half is covered by the mirror, the bit at the head of the bath will still be visible)

That was my judgement of which of the options you gave looks smartest, though. I personally think they all look smart but boring, lacking in any kind of personal touch.

I really love the third picture down. Perhaps if you like colour you could do something like that? The wallpaper pictured is 'Circus' by Cole and Son if you like that one or you could have a wallpaper which is mostly the same bright colour. You must use Decorator's Varnish to protect wallpaper in a bathroom.

If you're going for either bright paint or wallpaper I would suggest all the lightest grey or white tiles, probably white, and maybe only colour on the ceiling.

Hi,

I would suggest you keep the large mirror on the right side of the wall behind the sink, as this would make the space look large. As you are lacking natural lighting in your bathroom have the wall (left side) opposite the mirror a lighter colour such as white so you can get as much light bouncing off to the bathroom. I think you should have spot lights as this would spread more light into the darker areas and lighten the whole space up.

Having shelfs in your bathroom where there is an indent to the wall would benefit you from storing you shampoos and so on. Having a darker floor would benefit you from cleaning as often. I also suggest that you have succulent plants infront of your mirror area to give the space a bit of character and colour.

Love the look and mood I'm getting from this render. Personally I think the tub takes up room and makes the room feel smaller then what it is. A walk in/curbless shower would look great.

This layout is OK. Could you get them to put an air admittance valve on the stack and get the height down so the shelf behind the bath is all one lower height. I am guessing there is a stack in the full height boxing??

I would also build a full height nib wall next to the bath and put a shower screen on it as i think you will regret not putting a shower over the bath.

If you are local to me I could look at drawing you something up

Hello again, i changed the design and exchange the bath for shower. The designs are not done, just some working versions. they are too dark at the moment. I look forward to your opinions and ideas.
