Depending on the dilemma - 1. Location as far as climate helps (remember this is an International site) 2. Photos of relevant area including items to stay or go 3. What you want to achieve 4. Photos from Houzz of ideas you like 5. Taste or style 6. Preferred colours or colours you don't like or want 7. Budget in terms of low, medium or high - again this varies country to country so a specific budget is irrelevant MOST IMPORTANT - regularly check your dilemma and respond to posts asap.

I would stick to neutral colours as your kitchen sounds quite contemporary and anything to flashy may upset the balance. Black glass looks very elegant but a white or transparent splash back will help to open the room up. Grey is a good middle ground but too much grey can look rather drab. I would say that the deciding factor should be the size of the kitchen as black may close the room in. But it is wise in my opinion to go for the same finish as you have for the work tops. I have enclosed a CAD design of a kitchen with cashmere cupboards and a black glass splash back for inspiration. Would love to see some pictures of your kitchen!
