I need ideas for the living room and entrance hall

Hi, I have a living room (5.30x5.30) that I have to furnish, I only have a white chester sofa and a dark brown armchair (if it is not good in the context, I can move it to another room). My dilemma is the furniture that I will have to buy for the opposite wall, what color should it be? White or another color? I like the decor of the photo below, do you think this color is good? Help me to choose a carpet, a little table and what you consider beautiful or necessary to insert. And also for the entrance hall, please. I thank you in advance for your suggestions.

Wow, what a big space! What is great here is that you have lots of room to play with. It really depends on what style you are going for. However here are some ideas!

For the entrance way, a lovely console table would be a wonderful addition against the opposite wall to the door. Something reflective to help keep the place looking bright! This could be decorated with some accents like some bright flowers that really pop against the neutral wall. Maybe a little tray to put your keys and purse in as well! Can't see the space behind the door however maybe a statement coat hanger? Or it could even be placed in the left corner, near the double doors.

For the living room space, I would keep the white chesterfield sofa and build around that. A wall mounted TV would look amazing against the marble wall, however if you prefer - maybe some art? For this I would pick out some statement art that incorporates hints of the general colour scheme. Also, a cabinet for storage!

I like the idea of the porch using the last bit or garage. It looks like you have a great space to make it a lovely entrance with shoe/coat storage, a large mirror and a bench perhaps. If you decide not to knock down the wall to the lounge and retain the entrance hall, you could consider putting in some high level internal windows to let some light into the hall from the other rooms. Also, if it's dark then run with it rather than fight it. Paint it a gorgeous dark colour (or wallpaper) and install a run of slim, beautiful glass pendant lights. It will be so gorgeous and dramatic when you enter, then if your other rooms are lighter they will appear so much brighter in contrast.

Here are some photos however the panoramic ones aren't very good as the make the walls look curved. The window wall with radiator is the front and is about 8ft wide the long wall with fireplace is about 12ft upto the beam and then another 5 ft after the beam.

Guys, I need more advice! 😕 I had planned on using wall panelling on the right hand side of my stairs, but I have pulled off a piece of wood that ran the length of the stairs and it's a bit of a mess underneath. I'm now thinking the normal batten style panelling is out of the question as I'm not going to get a straight wall once I've tarted up what's underneath where the wood was. Anybody got any ideas on how I can design this part of the stairs now? I believe the wood was placed there to cover where a previous handrail had been. It's quite low down tho, so must have been placed there by a fairly small person! I like the idea of tongue and groove panelling to basically cover the detritus that's been left, but I've no idea how to work out the angle to cut it to the correct size all the way up the stairs. So thinking of maybe just replacing the wood that was there with a fresh piece, maybe with a dado on top. Oh I don't know, help! Plans have been kiboshed! 🙈

Hi Julie,

You have a great space to work with here ! Will you painting the walls? If so, a nice stone colour I think would compliment the white and dark brown chairs. Have a look at 'Purbeck Stone' by Farrow and Ball.

If you wanted to you could have a painted feature wall in 'Worsted' also by Farrow and Ball and finish off the space with a beige carpet colour and small table such as this:
