What Colour Bar Stools?
Comments (14)I do like the idea of white stools, if you fancy painting the stools. I would personally paint the walls white and hang some bright coloured art (maybe with some yellow accents) - it will brighten the area. If you don't want to spend too much on the paint, either browse through the discounted section in B&Q and homebase, or buy cheap white paint (£4.00 for 5L homebase brand) and mix part of it with a paint tester of your choice for off white shade (like white + beige for lovely warm light shade of roman stone) - you're lucky to have such a lovely and well lit kitchen!...See MoreKitchen Bar/ Peninsula
Comments (0)Hi, We are having our new kitchen fitted and due to a fault in the designers the over hang on the peninsula will only be 6 1/2 inches! This will not be used for eating as we have a dining table but we would like to put some bar stools under it and use it as a seating area whilst having friends over to have a drink whilst we are cooking. Is this going to be too narrow? Will it look silly? I have looked at local pubs and their overhang is around the same and they have bar stools under it! Thanks...See MoreBar stools - with a back or backless?
Comments (8)I have lived in two places with breakfast bars in American style kitchens. I found that I tended to spend a great deal of time sitting there so a bar stool with a comfortable back is important. I made mine from pine, copied from some I saw in a bar. I was also given an old captains swivel seat from a yacht so I built a stand for it, reupholstered it and unfortunately left it for the new tenant who liked it. That was one of my favourite seats, to sit in comfort at a breakfast bar rather than balancing without a back to lean on....See MoreKitchen Island Seating Battle
Comments (18)I think I'd scrap the door from the bay window area and just have that as windows - you could then slot the dining table into the bay and it would be a lovely place to sit and eat. I'd then either have the two sofas facing each other, or just have one sofa facing a TV on the wall (what is your aim for this area? Is it a social space (no TV needed) or a TV viewing area (in which case people don't need to be able to see each other!). You have a separate living room which can accommodate one of these functions). This clears out space a bit so you don't walk straight into the room onto furniture. I'd also shrink the length of the island slightly - and is there any option for having bi-folds that open right round the corner, rather than the fixed window?...See MoreHollie Rose
