Hi. The room is quite big so I'd go for a dining table off an island. I'm pretty sure you should have the room, just need a 3ft gap all the way around for access etc. I'd also look at a slimmer integrated fridge freezer (personally). What's in the next room as you've left a walk through? I would probably move the oven down a little so someone can still access the fridge if the oven door is open. Are you having an extractor? You could consider a sink in the island which may be a more comfortable working triangle and you'd get a view to the garden. I'm not sure having a unit over the sink as per your plan would work. I would also consider more drawers. They're more popular now for pans as well as they're easier to get things out ( or I find so!)

Yes I liked the first pic just with the dark greys. The dishes will look great on the wall! If you do want to add colour though why not just build on the green and blue accessories you have? Perhaps add a large piece of art over the sofa in deep greens and blue? It doesn't have to be botanical, an abstract might also work. I quite like this one on the link. Then pick up the colour for a cushion another geometric or an ikat could work, maybe with a little fuschia in. I agree with MATH, I might move the fridge to the opposite wall. It's hard to tell from the pics what's there though. You could always buy a plantation style screen to hide it and maybe paint it in a deep Caribbean blue. I like your light but wonder if the room needs something more substantial like a large wooden/ply style? I'm not sure if tiles are needed as you've got an upstand and splashblack? This is a beautiful house, I would definitely spend time considering your choices. Do you know when the house was built, can you check the title deeds? It looks Edwardian to me. Personally I think with period houses it is best to keep the facade as was originally intended and if you prefer the contemporary look apply that to the back of the house. Please keep the brickwork at the bottom, it’s a lovely feature and I’d be concerned rendering over could create damp issues. If the house is Edwardian the window frames would have been originally white. I live on a street with houses just like this, most of them have thankfully kept the original facades. One was modernised in the 90’s with mahogany windows and fully rendered and one was modernised a couple of years ago with black windows and grey render. They both look awful and stand out like a sore thumb! Best of luck with your project, I’m sure it’s all very exciting!

A much more functional layout can be achieved in the existing room by flipping the existing hob and fridge freezer. It looks like you are currently losing a good 30cm or so of potential counter and cabinetry space next to the doorway, and it would give you a longer counter run between sink and hob. I would also add a long bank of shallow low cabinetry alongside the wall between the 2 doorways, which would give you quite a lot of additional storage space without interfering with the walkway or sight lines. Plus the narrow ledge there could help keep clutter off your work surfaces. In terms of dining space, you could lose your unloved peninsula and then add a small table and chairs. You would have to squeeze in the 60cm oven into the main work area, but 30cm would be gained by the fridge move, and another 20cm could be gained by swapping to a 60cm sink cabinet. (I assume it’s 80cm right now.).
