Need help choosing colours for living room
Comments (8)Thanks again :) Hadn't thought about Christmas! Oops, you're right of course, I will have to grab samples if I can and line them up and see what they look like. We've just had the window ripped out and the increase in light is amazing! This at least means I wont be too worried incorporating red in fear of the room looking too dark. The chair rail is a good idea, I'm assuming it's similar to what I referred to as a dado rail? Wooden trim halfway height around the room? We've just ripped ours off, haha, merely because I wanted to completely change the look of the room. Hmm, maybe I've been premature with that decision, it would have allowed me to add a strong colour and still be able to balance it.... Our children are now grown up, one left home, one back and forwards as attending University so no issues with small sticky fingers. However, we do have an incredibly energetic springer spaniel, so I do need the option to 'paint over' any areas he decided he particularly likes! :D...See MoreNeed help choosing wall colour
Comments (8)Is there a pattern on your sofa or is it just the velvet material that is brushed in different directions? The silvery grey colour that it is could be mixed with most colours eg dark grey eg railings , or you could go with brighter bolder colours there are so many different colours of blues, creams, yellows etc. Remember you can accessorise with rugs, cushion covers, picture frames, curtains etc....See MoreI'm trying to choose a color for a sitting room that has dark flooring
Comments (3)It largely depends on the look you want; if snug and dark you could paint the walls and ceiling out in navy (like Stiffkey blue, Farrow & Ball) then add in a nice big cosy rug and a sofa. Navy is the new neutral and goes with most colours so you could add a slightly eccentric Ochre yellow or bright pink sofa for some fun. Equally you could go for a warm beige as suggested above; the floor looks hard and quite cold so I think a large warm rug regardless. All the best Helen...See MoreNeed help with flooring fr my new kitchen/dining/sitting room
Comments (6)Marble would still work well in all those areas - luxurious and dramatic! A couple of points to take care with: - Take care if you're option for high gloss, as they can be slippery when wet - If you're opting for a very "white" marble (Carrara or some such), be prepared for it to show every dirty mark and need regular cleaning. If your lifestye can cope with this great - if you have three labrodors and live in a pair of Hunter wellies, I'd urge caution.......See MoreCelery. Visualization, Rendering images
