Sink & Tap Colour Concern
What do you think?
The designer of our kitchen is proposing we have an 1810 black cavaduo sink and purquartz matching tap (see images) in our new kitchen. He thinks it will tie in well with the quartz worktop we have chosen (see image) and the black oven microwave combination. I’m not 100% convinced and am concerned it may look too ‘matchy matchy’ rather than stylishly modern and I worry it may date quickly. I’m thinking simple brushed chrome sink and tap. Either way the sink will be under mounted. Am I being too conservative?
By the way, we’re aiming for a modern feel, the kitchen wall and base units will be Hacker Basalt Grey with aluminium trim and the central island mocha brown.
I've attached a picture of the kitchen layout although the colour of the units is not represented well and we won't be having lighting or chairs like those shown! Plus samples of the unit colours.

Comments (1)1. These sinks are joined with silicone - ask your builder to place it near the edges and cut excess with a knife (when dry) to ensure no space for dirt to collect. 2. Comments (23)We have a boiling tap - wouldn’t be without it. We were able to afford it when I found that Franke, better known for kitchen sinks, also do boiling taps. Small point but worth making - be careful when installing your boiling tap of choice to ensure easy access to the isolating mechanism on the water pipe(s) so you can turn off the water when you need to replace the filter cartridge. Comments (8)The brass from the lights, copper taps and stainless steel sink maybe too much, and especially so if your switches/sockets are a different finish like polished chrome ... The copper tap could work with a SS sink if you can add copper accents elsewhere and limit the finishes to the two....See Morehelp with bathroom taps!

Chloe yes I love wall mounted taps too, we are definitely getting wall mounted for bath but I don’t think we can for basin as it’s an external wall so unless a plumber can do something very clever we’d probably have to put some extra studwork in there which would reduce the width of the room which we can’t do unless we made the shower smaller than a 900x900 quadrant which we also don’t want to do! I love the crosswater brushed brass taps, but I can’t seem to find a tall basin mixer tap version of the range, and we need a tall mixer tap as we’d love a countertop basin. It’s so frustrating when the companies don’t do all the different types of tap for that range, some of them I find don’t do showerhead versions either so you can’t match it all up!...See Morekeswing

We show this beautiful Perrin & Rowe tap in our Harrogate showroom, it illustrates a trend towards mixing metal finishes. We think this dark contrast looks great against a light coloured worktop and splashback. I think the illustration of your kitchen looks great, very best of luck.

5 years agoWe did ours last year, was think of a black sink but on seeking this I just had to have it! Lovely bit of design when it spreads out as it deepens! It’s a big sink though, have had brushed taps and found them to be hard work so just went for axor Stark as I know the quality of them
