Design Dilemma Bedrooms

Odd shaped bedroom, would love advice on layout and anything else.

Hi, thanks in advance for any advice and apologies for the long post.
I'd really like some advice as to where to put furniture in my awkward shaped bedroom. It's a Victorian pub conversion in London. So far I've only painted the walls an off-white (very, very light grey) as I plan on going for a Scandinavian style room and I plan on taking up the carpet to reveal the wood floorboards within the next month.

These two pictures are of the room, the first being from the estate agent with furniture that's not mine and pre me painting, and the next from the opposite angle with the new paint job (and loads of mess as I only moved in a few days ago and am still unpacking).

Here's a sketch I just drew up with the measurements.

The only two pieces of furniture that must be in there are my bed (Ikea Gjora) and my wardrobe (Ikea Trysil).

Should I put the wardrobe against the diagonal wall? Can I do anything with that nook on the left as you enter? I'm at a total loss for where to put things and even what can go in there. Absolutely any advice appreciated, from furniture location to anything else and in between. Thank you.

Nice bed! Not to scale but I would consider having a dressing zone on the left, bed facing window on the right

I think the layout below is practical as it allows you to add a chest of drawers in the diagonal wall. If the oversized floor lamp in the corner of the picture is staying in the room perhaps this could go in the small corner

Hi Shu. I think your colours work well. You can colour match F&B or just buy Dulux Dusted Moss 2 which is very similar and perhaps slightly nicer (I have cornforth btw!) I would also bring in a little white for the bed and a slightly darker grey to balance the mustard. Re layout, once the rad is moved (would try to blend the colour into the ŵall) perhaps centre the bed and move the chest down so you lose that little empty corner. It looks as if it won't be an issue with the door? I'm not so keen on the shelf idea, it looks a little claustrophobic and you may end up hitting your head all the time. I also think you have enough interest with the gallery ŵall. I can't quite see the duvet, are they magnolias? If so Oka do a little bunch of fake magnolia with something else in that would look nice on the chest or bedside. Perhaps a bigger table lamp or 2. As you've also got a wood floor I would just look at adding different textures for cushions, curtains etc

In our loft conversion we have a D shaped rigid one piece bath under the eaves. It is centred under a dormer window so that when you climb out there is no problem with height. I think it is a good use of a tricky space. The height of the wall behind the bath from floor to ledge is about 80cm, and then from the ledge to the bottom of the sloping roof is about 30cm.

I'd do roughly what the current layout is. The sleep sofa against the short wall, not at an angle. The big sofa in front of the curved window. The TV on the wall where the fireplace is. Or else a low media cabinet against that wall to hold the TV. The dining table near the other window, which is closer to the kitchen. It might be nice to have a comfortable chair on a swivel so that it can face the sleep sofa or the long sofa and TV.

You could put you bed on the diagonal wall with bedside cabinets, embracing the quirkiness of the room and free up the opposite wall for lots of storage. If you put your wardrobe right in the bottom right corner then you could have a dressing table next to it with light from the window. I'd fit in a small desk or bookcase on the left of the door. If there's room elsewhere in the flat for a study then a slipper chair and a lamp would be nice in that space.

Hi, my thoughts were take door off hinge and get a track to slide the door. This creates a new feeling of entry to the room optimising the space at the side also.
You could have a desk as you come in to the room and the bed at the side, depending on the size of your unit, you could place it in the nook or at side of bed. Id have bed facing window for a nice morning view and natural light peeping through, depending on which way the sunrises and sets, it will be a beautiful scenery to look at, unless outside the windows a wall lol hope this helps. jodymorgandesign.com
